Upload workouts to Suunto watches

Hi everyone, I’m new to Intervals.icu, which I discovered today when looking at the new SuuntoPlus Guide feature

I have enabled the integration between Suunto and Intervals.icu, have checked the box “Upload planned workouts” in Intervals.icu’s settings, but I cannot see intervals.icu listed in the Suunto app on my phone.

Also, while checking the workouts I created, they look different than the ones you guys have put in this thread: when clicking on a planned workout in a plan, i can only edit it, not see it:

Unlike David’s original message, there’s no indication of the last upload in my settings page:

I guess I must be missing something, but I can’t figure out what… any idea?

OK, i disabled the upload workout feature, and reenabled it, and now i can see the upload happened:

but still nothing in my Suunto mobile app…

OK, I found why it wasn’t working!

I was trying to use the “Library/Plan/Workout” feature, and then dropping a workout e.g. to April 2nd.

I tried creating manually a workout in the default “Activities” view, and this way it worked
I also successfully dragged and dropped a workout from my library into the default Activities, which then synch’ed to the watch.

Is that the only way to do it? There’s no possibility to have the library’s plan to sync?

You can create a plan in your library and then drag and drop that onto you calendar. You can also assign athletes (including yourself) to the plan and the “Apply changes” to update all of their calendars. Plans can also be set to rollout automatically on a week by week basis on a particular day.

If you are just planning your own workouts its easiest to just work directly on your own calendar. You can drag workouts from there and drop them in library folders to use them again in future or put them on plans etc.

Thanks David, didn’t realise you could drag and drop a whole plan!
you’re right, it probably makes more sense to drag and drop single workouts though.

one more question: you said that you’d add the name of the step (Upload workouts to Suunto watches - #14 by david) but i am not getting it when the watch switches to the next interval - would be handy!

I have made a lot of changes to the integration which I will deploy Sat AM (GMT+2). I will update the top post of this thread with a walkthrough when I do that. Got interval repeat counters (1/3, 2/3 etc.) and a notification working.

I just got that working and will deploy Sat AM (GMT+2). The name of each step is displayed in the 13 character title area at the top of the watch. Repeats get a 10s notification popup summarising the steps.

wow, that looks amazing! :star_struck:

I have deployed the changes and updated the top post of this thread with an example and a walkthrough.

Busy working on distance based workouts now …

Indeed really great stuff… only not for me yet…
I added some workouts to the workouts folder, then dragging them to the calendar, and if necessary changing the duration for that particular training. The trainings aren’t synced to the suunto app however, even if the sync executed. Are these workouts not applied to me, somehow? I guess I am missing something.

Are you running the latest version of the Suunto app? From the logs it certainly looks like things synced:

SuuntoService : found 4 guides for athlete i58618
SuuntoService : updating athlete i58618 workout 3938004 2022-04-02T00:00:00 Ext1
SuuntoService : updating athlete i58618 workout 3938053 2022-04-05T00:00:00 Ext2
SuuntoService : updating athlete i58618 workout 3938079 2022-04-07T00:00:00 Ext1
SuuntoService : syncPlannedWorkouts complete athlete i58618 force false

Yes, both on my iOS & Android device I checked if there was an update, but there was not.
So the problem is on Suunto app side then…

Jeez… I’m exploring sport types on the watch and it says “Ext1 planned for today…”. So the sync did work. I only looked at the calendar on the suunto app where I thought the planned workouts would appear…

Ok… so no issue any more I guess

Great new @david and much appreciated. One question. After I have edited the workout the miniature of it disappeared from the calendar. Do you have any assumption why?

Congratulations!!
Great job.
I am really impressed!!!
Is it possible that when the target is chosen, the HR also shows the race pace?
And on the contrary, if we choose the race pace as the objective, that the clock shows HR?
Thanks!

I asked in a facebook Suunto group if planned workouts should appear in the calendar of the Suunto app. I suspect it is in the pipeline.

Hi David,

Would be possible to add average pace of the segment to be presented on the watch screen of planned workout ? Currently momentary pace is available only. Thing is that momentary pace is actually present already on the top of the screen - its animated movable indicator (arrow). For many runners average pace per segment is crucial, momentary one is supportive only.
I am attaching photo of the watch with average pace (śr.int - its in polish) available in S+ Guides, but connected to Training Peaks platform:

I made that change. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to test it properly. My wife upgraded her Suunto to the latest s/w and now the IOS app doesn’t show guides. Presumably Suunto are working on a fix.
