I guess there are a few options if you switch off Strava.
- Garmin
- Dropbox
- OneDrive
- AppleHealth/HealthFit
- GoogleFit
- others?
I guess there are a few options if you switch off Strava.
My current plan for this is to sell bundles of tokens each of which grants 1 month of supporter to one athlete. Anyone will be able to buy these and sponsor other athletes they follow or coach. Each month each sponsored athlete costs one token.
Thanks to everyone who as signed up already or switched away from Strava!
Iâve discounted Strava, but have lost the downloaded sessions from it. Not sure if this was meant to happen or if there is a fix. Thanks.
The Strava API terms of service require that Intervals.icu deletes all data if you disconnect. You need to just untick the âDownload buttonâ. You need to re-connect and click the âDownload Old Dataâ button in the Strava box.
My app Enduroco depends on Strava sync for my users. Can I purchase paid subscription on their behalf ?
Happy to support. Great app!
In the case if I have 10 athletes, would it be 10 monthly tokens? Could the coach himself introduce the token?
Yes that is the idea so far. You will be able to sponsor the athletes without intervention on their part. I am assuming no-one is going to complain I someone else makes them a supporter.
First off - I really love intervals.icu , and am a happy paid subscriber.
If I can help by turning off Strava download, Iâll do that.
I capture workouts either on Zwift, or with my Wahoo computer or Garmin watch. So If I link my zwift to Garmin, and both Wahoo and Connect to intervals I would get the same as just using Strava sync minus segments that is no problem.
But what about gear. Its really neat to keep track on what bikes were used for what ride. How do that work if I import only from Wahoo and Connect ? Manually change gear on activities on Intervals?
From a data security standpoint (and sorry for posting that, surely it has been answered a million times): curretnly I sync from both Strava and Garmin, but I only recently enabled the Garmin sync. Can I future-proof my data by clicking âdownload old dataâ from Garmin? Will it influence interval changes or titles of individual activities?
Yes. You have to do that on Strava anyway. Itâs pretty much the same procedure here.
Click the edit button and select the gear used
Just out of curiosity, is the API rate limit just for downloading? The reason I ask is I assume TrainerRoad uses the API to upload workouts, and my impression is TrainerRoad has a ton of users, so it seems theyâd be hitting the rate limit also if it was for uploading.
An API call is to get and/post data, so upload and download data. Stravaâs APi T&Cs says that the Developer can request a rate increase, but itâs dependent on a case by case basis.
Also, it doesnât mean apps like Garmin, TrainerRoad, TrainingPeaks, Todayâs Plan is limited to rate limit of 1000.
Garmin rides that match existing Strava rides will take the name and segments from the Strava ride so long as you have âKeep non-Strava activities in sync with Stravaâ ticked in /settings. Any activity comments you have (the chats) will also be moved to the Garmin activity.
It is in Stravaâs interests to support as many sources of activity files as possible. You arenât going to signup for Strava if your device doesnât support Strava upload. Not so much for data leaving the platform.
I unticked âdownload activitiesâ from Strava and wanted to sync from garmin but it seems Garmin does not sync my activity with Intervals.icu
Do they have to be recorded with garmin device in order to be uploaded automatically?
I used trainerroad without any garmin device active.
how do I get Garmin to sync? I changed the settings a couple days ago to turn off Strava and turn on Garmin but nothing is coming through.
Yes unfortunately that is the case. You might be able to get something working with Dropbox. There are a few posts on this thread.
Are the activities recorded on a Garmin device? Garmin doesnât pass 3rd party activities on to Intervals.icu.
Are these historical or current actitivies?
Did you âdownload old dataâ?
thatâs a bummer - I really like your tool but I understand your situation.
