[SOLVED] Tabletennis gets recognized as Running (Ans: Amazfit not writing the FIT file properly)

I track also my tabletennis training and this always gets labeled as running in intervals.icu.
In strava everything is fine. I also use runalyze and there it gets labeled as weight training.
Is this a problem with amazfit? And if yes, why does Strava get it right?

If I could guess it’s the same reason as in this thread

So check what’s written in the fit file

So, I checked the fit file. In the first section there seems to be no difference between a running activity and a table tennis activity.
At the end of the fit file there is a kind of summary (duration kcal, etc.) and in this section there is a difference.
For running it states: sport=1=running
And for tabletennis: sport=0=generic

So for me it remains unclear why Strava does correctly categorize this as tabletennis.
But as there is a clear difference, it would be nice if intervals.icu gives me the option to automatically label fit files with the line Sport=0=generic as tabletennis.
And if that is not possible, maybe then intervals.icu could lable such activities as “other sports” or something like that.

Sports labeled as “generic” will typically be lumped under Others

WOuld you kindly share this screenshot?

In the above,
sport = Cycling
SubSport = generic (could be road cycling, trail cycling, gravel cycling etc)

If i were to interpret what you wrote.
Sport = 1 = running ← this is the “sport”
Sport = 0 = generic ← this is the “SubSport”

so in this case, your watch is writing that activity as Running. if this is true, when Intervals gets the activity from AmazFit, it is getting the FIT file and intervals.icu will process the FIT file AS IS.

The case w/ Strava may be different in how that data is received / pushed from AmazFit.

Maybe I stated it not clearly. In my examples the running activity gets labeled in the fit file as running and the tabletennis one as generic.
See the following screenshots:

The first one is the running activity. It also has a sub Sport declaration.
The second one is the tabletennis activity. It has only the label “generic” and no sub_sport label.

sorry, you’re not using fitfileviewer.com, takes some getting used to the output.

okay, based on your 2nd screenshot. the sport = generic.
Looks like high possibility that the mapping for generic isn’t being mapped correctly in intervals.icu

please provide the intervals workout link so david can have a closer look.

@david

Stupid question: how can provide the link for David? I am still very new to intervals.icu.

go/open to the activity, copy paste the URL

From fitfileviewer.com:

That is not very helpful. I will contact Zepp about this. You selected “Table tennis” on the watch right?

Yes I did select tabletennis on the watch. Interesting and I think this is the cause that runalyze categorizes all my table tennis workouts as strength workout.
