[SOLVED] Roller skiing workouts

Why don’t intervals detect roller skiing workouts? Whenever I save a training to Polar as freestyle roller skiing, intervals detect it as walking, and I always need to manually change it to roller skiing. This is not a problem with Nordic skiing — intervals detect that correctly.

kindly look at the FIT file in fitfileviewer.com and determine if the Sport and SubSport is saved as that particular sport.

There has been previous iterations where the correct value isns’t writen in, hence this error.

Both Sport and SubSport are set to ‘generic’. Could this be the cause of the problem, and is there a way to fix it?

That’s the reason then. Either polar isn’t writing the correct sport or you didn’t select the correct sport (when starting the workout) or the sport isn’t available.

Eg: I don’t have badminton as a sport profile. So I had to use cardio. Then I neee to change it manually to badminton after the fact.

I’ll mark this as solved. Not much can be done from intervals.icu side unfortunately.

Polar records roller skiing, and I select it. It also shows up correctly in Strava

If you’re doing the changes in polar (web/app) and not when you’re executing the workout (via watch/ app etc) then it’s not written into the FIT file. That’s why it’s generic.

Strava having it changed may just means Polar sends a sport change event There.

I don’t need to make any changes — I just select roller skiing directly from the watch when I start the workout

At the end, if the sport type isn’t defined in the fit file which is delivered to intervals, intervals can’t know what sports type it is.

like @R2Tom mentioned, this is really something that you would need to bring to Polar. If what’s being written to the FIT file is “generic” then that s what it is.
