Posting for those who haven’t come across this yet, it’s being mentioned as probably the biggest innovation in endurance sports this year.
Exciting news to all Suunto users, Suunto recently launched ZoneSense, which measures workout intensity by analysing heart rate variability (HRV) in real-time.
DDFA (Dynamical Detrended Fluctuation Analysis) is a new method to analyze the changes in your HRV data during exercise. It is an evolution of the DFA analysis.
What is DDFA?
DDFA has been recently introduced by Suunto for real-time measurement of aerobic and anaerobic thresholds in Suunto devices via their new feature.
This is not a metric created by Suunto, rather they’re the first ones to bring this to a sports watch, powered by MoniCardi’s cutting-edge technology.
It can also measure aerobic and anaerobic thresholds during first 45 mins of the workout and a R-R heart rate belt with BT is mandatory. Works for multiple sports.
Compatibility wise, old Suunto watches got this feature automatically at launch in Suunto app for post workout analysis, on the contrary newer Suunto watches get real-time Suunto + app (S9PP, SV, SR and SRS).
Already experimenting with this new cool feature! I was wondering what data fields could be synced to intervals? I see nothing additional in my fit files
@herlas What is your relationship with Suunto. I ask because this sounds a lot like a press release. Yet, you don’t represent yourself as someone from the company which would be standard protocol. If this is a personal recommendation, same question.
Not sure if I really need to answer this but here you go, I’m a regular Suunto end user here, and yes I’ve shared public links and materials made available when the feature was released, intention being to share this with ICU community for awareness.
