LT(VT)1 / LT(VT)2 Definitions

Is it possible to store and update LT1 / LT2 values and, ultimately, calculate TSS / SS from these values?

I’m considering a tymewear https://www.tymewear.com/ breathing sensor and using the constantly adjusted turnpoints that it records. Of course, updating intervals.icu FTP on a per activity basis is pretty simple, but I don’t believe there is a clear point of definition for LT1 (VT1), unless I can use a 3 zone model globally? Or should I just set the Z2 upper limit in a 7 zone model to the LT1 value?

Sorry this is a bit of ‘type as I think’ post, but it would be awesome if strain could be directly recorded from tymewear too, but I have no idea what they expose.

edit: I see there is a similar request here Set zones by minute ventilation

@James_Eastwood_Socks, your post contains several questions so it’s a bit difficult to answer directly. Keep in mind that FTP is an external measure of power whereas LT1, VT1 and TSS are internal physiological measures. Those physiological turn-points are well defined by Iñigo San Millán, Stephen Seiler and Gordo Byrn so I’m not sure what you mean by “I don’t believe there is a clear point of definition”. Regarding zones, each activity has it’s own zones. Personally, I prefer to set zones on %HRmax for each activity, until such time as Tymewear and RR-based zones are fully incorporated. Doing this requires some fiddling since zones in Intervals are (still) based on LT2. Intervals was originally based on 5-7 zone model so it’s a bit of a workaround to use 3 zone model ‘globally’, which is why I keep the 5 zone model and have graphs that translate work into 3 zone model.

I appreciate I wasn’t particularly clear…

Within intervals.icu. I fully understand what the turn points are.

Yes this is exactly the point I’m trying to make. Ideally I would globally use a 3 zone model with the turnpoints driven by data (either Tymewear or Suunto Zonesense).

Figured you did but I wanted to continue the discussion somewhere (and give others who read the thread later some background in case they need it).

100% agreement. Definitely top of my Intervals wish list.

I am very interested in this too. The Tyme wear website shows a 5 zone scheme with VT1 top of Zone 2, VT2 top of Zone 4. With special homage to Sweet Spot training, that the call Balance point. Currently I use a 5 zone with what I think is my VT1 in the middle of my Z2
per HR. And Use time in Zones to get HR load, when I don’t have a PM. Its the closest thing I have found to power load so far. But a Fitness chart that I didn’t have to know java script for would make it more likely for me to get a Tyme Wear strap.

This is possible now that you can add custom activity fields to sports in /settings. You can also setup custom zones.
