Please mail that file to david@intervals.icu. The format might have changed. Tx.
Has worked for this morning…
I have the same issue trying to sync data today
[solved] First day to import 1.12.22 and it worked
I occasionally find I have to “export to Dropbox” many times before it uploads. The integration to TP is automatic.
@david brought this up here but would it be possible to have separate fields for Garmin’s nightly HRV (rMSSD) vs HRV4training’s morning HRV measurement? Similarly for the resting HR field
Ideally would like to have measurements from both; currently they randomly override each other, messing up any graphs/trends and the ImReady4 script
I need to find a general solution to this. Likely custom wellness fields mapped to the various objects received from Garmin et al.
It’s ok now. Yes, thanks
I seem to be a bit slow.
- How does a user connect the HRV4T app to Dropbox? I only see a Data Export/Upload to Dropbox but no way to actually connect the app to Dropbox.
- What recommended methods are people using to lean on Marco to play ball directly with Interals.icu?
On that note, what other methods and apps are people using to collect HRV data (other than whoop or Oura)? I find that Marco makes things overly complex and misses the simple things.
Marco won’t be syncing directly with Intervals any time soon, if ever. See email response from Marco below to my request for integration with Intervals.icu
I use EliteHRV to take my measurements (with a Polar H9). I just pop the data into each of Intervals and HRV4T then.
What simple things do you think Marco misses and how does he make things too complex? Like I said, I don’t record data on his app. I just use it for the analysis. EliteHRV has all the raw data.
What happens when you click on upload to Dropbox?
I’ve been syncing for almost 2 years, with limited problems (occasionally takes more than one press on upload to upload).
Once it’s in Dropbox, you link your Intervals account. The data is in the Apps/HRV4Training folder.
I also manually capture Kubios, from the iPhone app.
Nix, nada, when clicking on sync with Dropbox. …Well, it says it’s syncing but a) there’s nowhere to provide the app access to Dropbox; b) nothing new shows up in my Dropbox.
Given the shear chaos and lack of cohesion on his website, the lack of care for anything other than Strava and TP (both of which I can’t stand, for multiple reasons), and a few other reasons I’m once again removing the HRV4T app from my phone. I do not support companies and people uninterested in cooperation and communication.
Personally, and this could be just the way my brain works, I find the app confusing. Shit is everywhere and the comparisons make no sense to me. I’ve read all that he’s written and I still can’t follow along. That’s the complexity. I appreciate that he’s a smart guy and that he’s trying to help, and that it provides tons of information for those who can make sense of it. For me, the simple things he misses are: just have the damn thing record and show rHR & rMSSD, remove all the tagging, easy auto sync to whatever platform I want, and a structure to the app & website that looks like it was planned out from the beginning instead of a bunch of additions and expansions built onto the side of the house over years creating chaos and no feng shui. I don’t need his analysis—users may already have something that does that for them, i.e. Intervals.icu (which, BTW @david, is bar none light years better than everything else on virtually every level). It feels like Marco is trying to force me into his platform and way of thinking, aka AOL proprietary environment.
… …
FYI, the reason I even asked is because, after 3.5 years, my Polar Vantage M started doing what every other optical sensor does on my body, it’s reading HR 30-50 bpm high (and thus doubles or triples nocturnal HRV). I like the sleep data and the nocturnal HRV for a multitude of reasons. (Yes, I know the difference between nocturnal, morning, exercise and post-exercise HRV. Andrew Flatt has written a wonderful piece on this; trends are trends regardless, the weeds come in various hues. And on this note, @david, this is why I’d really love to see the separation of nocturnal and morning, and eventually post-workout HRV in Intervals.icu so that users can overlay and compare the trends for each one.) Since my Vantage M only started behaving poorly a couple weeks after using it for workouts, I’m just going to try out the new Polar Ignite 3, only use it for sleeping and see what happens.
I am not using the HRV4T app, I use Kubios.
But I have tons of respect for Marco who is taking things further with research and large population statistics.
The search/detect for correlation in manually entered events and HRV/RHR creates opportunities to research if other ‘live situations’ do or do not influence HRV for example.
Sometimes he changes his mind on things that were stated before, but that’s pretty normal for a metric that is still quit recent. There remains a lot to be discovered.
He’s also very open to share research results and knowledge for free. You only need to pay for the Pro version of the app.
All in all, I don’t agree with your vision on his work, sorry.
Regarding the dropbox sync, try to clear your app cache and reconnect to dropbox.
100%. That part he defo does well.
Yup, BTDT.
No disagreement there. 100%
Fair enough. To be clear, I’m not questioning his motives or his person. I’m expressing my experience of the usability of the product for this touchy-feely, non-coder person.
I absolutely see where you’re coming from but don’t necessarily agree with everything you say. Each to their own
I do not however look at all the different analysis tools he has. I do like a lot of what he offers though.
As an FYI, he has just updated his website. HRV4Training Pro
Much cleaner sleeker look and well laid out so you can clearly see what you want and navigate accordingly.
@nasatt, agreed, the new website is cleaner.
Personally, I find Andrew Flatt’s information much easier to follow than Marco’s. On a side note, I found this interesting,
Measurements were performed using the chest belt (H10, Polar Electro, Beth-page, NY, USA) [17] paired with a cost-free smartphone application (Elite HRV, Asheville, NC, USA). Application settings were manually configured on participants’ mobile devices to precede all 60-s R interval recordings with a 60-s stabilization period [11]. RR interval data were exported daily via e-mail as a .txt file to the researchers.
Data were imported into specialized HRV software (Kubios Premium, Version 3.4.3, Kuopio, Finland) for processing of artifacts and ectopic beats with a low-pass filter.
As @MedTechCD points out, there’s a lot to be discovered in this field and, IMHO, it’s not really reached mainstream usability despite the hype that virtually every health and fitness company seems to advertise (that they have it all figured out and are the ones to listen to). It reminds me of the early days of computer networking on PC’s, the art of hacking together pieces in order to have some semblance of usefulness.
Hi @Gerald
Been using EliteHRV to measure for years now but I’ve been messing today with auto upload to Intervals from HRV4Training. It works very well.
Up until now I’ve been taking measurement with EliteHRV and manually inputting to HRV4T. You measure with Kubios and manually input to HRV4T??
Do you have the option to manually input SDNN to HRV4T app? If not, do you input SDNN manually into Intervals?
@david
Is there a way to import readings from HRV4T with 2 decimal places rather than the current no decimal place? Not a biggy but curious if it can be done. I have 4 years of rMSSD data manually inputted on intervals, all to 2 decimal places and noticed that import from HRV4T via Dropbox rounds rMSSD to nearest whole number. Does it round down or up at .5 ?
Also is there a way to import custom field from HRV4T ? I have custom field for weight each morning set in HRV4T but can’t find an option to select that for import to Intervals
Thanks
For Kubios, the values are manually added.
Kubios App → Excel sheet → save as CSV - uploaded to Wellness import.
I would prefer if I could use the API to read my Excel (ATP) file; I just don’t have the skills to do that, whereas the import from the web is very easy.
For HRV4Training there are two values labelled AVNN or SDNN in the export to Dropbox:
- AVNN is manually loaded
- SDNN is automatically added.
It would be great is the AVNN column could be automatically populated too. I have the custom field for that.
My data would suggest round up/down at 0.5
Thanks!
