Quick Background - I’ve been cycling for four years now but my progress has been pretty slow. Garmin still has me on the “weak” side of the FTP spectrum. I’ve subscribed to Zwift in the past and I really liked their FTP Builder program but Zwift is just so expensive now. I have an Edge 830 which will supposedly control my Zwift Hub (?). The last Zwift FTP test I took was 160 (10/23), intervals and Garmin have me at 190 right now. It’s been a brutal summer of trying to keep up with 18ish mph flat 30-50mi group rides while in my max heart rate zone for pretty much the entire ride (this has been going on since March).
So I’m looking to put in place a training program that I can do in the cold season (October - March possibly, November - February absolutely) that will have me come out on the other side as strong or stronger.
A commenter on Reddit suggested there are training plans from here that I can put right on my Edge 830 and off I go…?
(Update : I found where someone had re-created the FTP Builder program in the “Library” and I downloaded all those files - now I don’t know how to put those on my Edge 830 and how to start those workouts on my trainer)
How do I do that and is that the right thing to do?
It’s as easy as loading a workout to your calendar.
It syncs to Garmin
At start up it showsthe home screen, select top right to go to next page.
Shows a planned workout, select the profile, then go.
If you click on the library icon at the top of your calendar, and then click on the looking glass/plan it will give you a list of plans people have shared. There are a few Zwift ones in there (highlighted).
re test a workout - can i load this all up on my 830 just to make sure it works and then quit out 5 minutes into the workout and sit on it until October?
ok this makes some sense - for some reason when I copied the FTP builder in, it set it up in July and August (6 weeks gone by) - actually it ends Aug 3
