Hi all, hoping for some wisdom.
I’ve been following the Zwift BMU plan, got to week 11 and picked up an L4 disc injury on the MTB so need to take it easy for a few weeks.
I’m ok to do easy Z1/2 spins on the indoor bike, but find them very boring, so my question is what’s the minimum duration for this type of ride to create some stress and maintain fitness please ? I can ride every day if needed.
Thanks in advance.
I think 5 to 7 hours per week should be ok, with a minimum of 1 hour per ride.
But it depends on how much you trained before your injury and how much of your fitness you want to keep. Because your explosive power is going to suffer from it, which is something you need as a mountainbiker. But for general fitness and endurance it should be ok. Try to mix in 1 or 2, true zone 2 rides (75% or more time spent in Z2)

Thanks Simon, I was hoping 1 hr rides most days would be enough to maintain at least
