Why so much zero power on swift ride

Apologies for what might be a naive question. I did not include it in bugs because I don’t think my question relates to a software bug - just personal ignorance.

I am new to this platform.

I have a wahoo indoor training bike and use zwift. When I ride a structured workout. For example 2 x15 min FTP intervals of continuous peddling there are a LOT of zero power intervals appearing on intervals. I record the workout on my Garmin watch and it imports to Intervals. I suspect this is just a sampling rate issue and all the calculations are correct. Is there a best recommended way to input data into intervals when using an indoor trainer.
Thank you for all the fascinating analysis. I will be happy to support.

Hi,

I used to have a lot of drop outs in data on bluetooth (reading goes from a certain value down to zero and gets back up almost instantly).

Ever since I moved to ANT+ the problem disappeared.

If you are using bluetooth connection it might be dropping out.

Bluetooth can be affected by home WiFi.

Are you seeing those dropouts on Garmin Connect and/or Zwift to, or only on Intervals.icu?
Did you check if your watch is set to record second by second or is it in ‘smart recording’ mode?

That’s usually normal and isn’t necessarily a problem with Intervals. If you’re recording the workout on your Garmin while Zwift is controlling the trainer, short zero-power samples can appear because of recording intervals, Bluetooth/ANT+ dropouts, or how Garmin smooths indoor trainer data. If the average power, NP, and training load look correct, I wouldn’t worry too much about the occasional zeros. If it becomes frequent, try recording directly from the trainer (instead of multiple devices at once), make sure the trainer firmware is up to date, and check for wireless interference from nearby Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices.
