Which device manufacturers are embracing third-party access via API?

Given API access to Intervals.icu and the impending need for Garmin-intervals-bridge – your complete Garmin FIT files and wellness data in Intervals.icu, with or without the official Garmin integration , which device manufacturers are instead embracing third-party MCP access?

What are the TOS of Coros, Polar, Suunto, etc?

Does anyone have any specific knowledge of non-Garmin manufacturers’ attitudes?

given coros’s support link describing connecting to Claude, I can’t see how they would have any issue with syncing data to intervals.icu and you then connecting to whatever AI or other app you want

My Edge currently has all my rides from 2026 that I was able to copy onto my cloud storage.
I usually delete activities a few times a year, but will now be plugging my device into my computer, when charging, and then copying files across. I’ve created an automated workflow to pick up when my device connects, and then automate the copy process; took a few minutes with the help of Google’s AI mode to iron out a few issues.

As long as the Edge still works, it will be done the old fashioned way. I’ll then decide what gets synced to Garmin Connect; my health insurance wellness program requires Garmin or Apple (for me) and only needs HR data. So I might create a script to strip all data except HR, then upload weekly to Garmin Connect to ensure I meet my “weekly goal”.

The only convenient feature I use are course files, which can be done on other apps, like Komoot. Just means my USB charge cable will be working a little harder than normal. But I’ll use the “club account” I created, to then share the course file for each club ride.

I don’t need TrainingPeaks to get data into WKO5 as the data is saved/downloaded as a local copy. I can replicate that process from the automated copy from my device being plugged in.

Strava is not important for me, and I won’t miss it either, and I won’t be manually uploaded there.

A bit extreme? Yes, but not as extreme as trying to replace devices that still work. Garmin just won’t be getting (all of) my data.

That, I believe is a big difference between what you can connect Coros to Claude vs connecing Coros to Intervals then to claude

Wahoo is pretty open. There is a Dropbox integration which is a huge win, because so every activity is exported automatically.
I think you can even sync Coros activities via wahoo cloud, as they have partnership. But not tested yet.

You might reconsider this thread in light of David’s latest update.
