Many running training sessions are set up based on 5k race pace, like nrc, for example
-30m 5k pace
-10m easy run
-30m 10k pace
not currently i believe. YOu need to set it based on threshold pace.
The way I do it is:
- find the threshold pace based on your 5K time (for example: 5K in 14:03 gives a VDOT of 75. That gives me a threshold of 3:04/km).
- 14:03 / 5 = 2:48 /km
- 5K pace = 168 sec
- T pace = 184 sec
5K ~ 109% of Threshold
So:
-30m 109% Pace
(pardon if my maths are off, I am doing work in between. But basically what you are doing is finding how much of your threshold pace your 5K pace is at. Normally (unless your 5 takes longer than 30mins) your T pace is slower than your 5K pace).
In fact, that’s basically what I’m doing right now, and since it’s all about calculations why not set up a simple formula inside the intervlas page
Intervals can edit training sessions based on heart rate, power, pace zones, and it would be really great to be able to set race pace and edit sessions as a result. Forgive my lack of satisfaction and thanks again to the developer
Lack of satisfaction.!!! LOL.
Training Peaks is $125 a year. You’re getting everything TP has to offer on Intervals + infinitely more customizability and all for free, yet you aren’t satisfied. The mind boggles.
Forgive my remarks, it may be a problem with the translation software, I wasn’t trying to express my dissatisfaction.
I agree that this will really be useful. I am going to teach a running class shortly - and in running paces are just another really nice way to program when being on the track.
