I researched the Oura Ring over the past few days because I’m looking for a solid way to monitor recovery, HRV, and sleep quality — mainly to make better training decisions and avoid overreaching. I read reviews on Wired, DC Rainmaker, and Reddit, and many athletes are recommending it for readiness tracking and long-term performance improvement.
I’m trying to decide between the two main versions:
RingConn Gen 2, World’s First Smart Ring with Sleep Apnea Monitoring

Oura Ring 4 - Silver - Size 9 - Smart Ring

Both have the same internal sensors, but I’m unsure which one would be more comfortable for 24/7 wear and more reliable in tracking. My main goals:
- Monitor daily HRV and recovery to adjust training intensity
- Track sleep quality and readiness trends
- Use the data to reduce risk of overtraining
- Possibly sync insights with other training tools
If you’ve used the Oura Ring for endurance or strength training purposes, I’d really appreciate your feedback.
Which version would you recommend?
How reliable is it for guiding load and recovery in practice?
Thanks in advance!
