Splits (1km) Doesn't Stick

I just tried this (Splits for Runs - #6 by badger88) for a run which didn’t have laps (garmin died) and It successfully created 1km laps. Even the skyline chart got updated.

BUT…
When I close the activity and then re-enter it again. I see the 1 single lap again and not the 1km split.

Before Splitting

After Splitting

Then close the activity, back to calendar view. After which I go back into the activity and it’s reset back to original. What gives?

Did you try to refresh? Because they should be saved and never had troubles with that before.

yeah… I did refresh. And I can see it didn’t stick as when I refresh, the skyline chart reverts back to 1 single interval.

Just ried on one of my runs and it did stick right away. Don’t know what’s going on…

Can you let me know if I’m doing something wrong?
Now I’m trying on another run. This has existing laps, but I want try to change it to say 0.5km splits

First Try:
There are existing intervals, so I do Action → Clear Intervals. But after doing this, I can’t select the interval to “split”.

2nd Try:
I revert to original laps. ACTION → Use Laps. This then creates the original laps.(there are a few). but when I click on the 1st lap (1km) then Split to 0.5km, it will only split the 1km lap I clicked on into 2x 500m laps. The other intervals maintain.
So, it seems that I need to remove all the intervals into 1 BIG interval and then create the split. (which is my 1st try)

3rd Try:
I hover on all individual laps, and press D. then I end up with 1 BIG lap. But after this, it doesn’t allow me to create a new split (no “hand” cursor)

That’s normal. If no interval exists, you can’t split it  It’s just a view on the entire activity without any intervals. Easiest way to make the whole activity one big interval is to create one interval, no matter where or how long, open the dialog and click on the left/right arrow icon to make the interval cover the complete activity.

You can do the same if you have multiple autodetect intervals, just open the dialog for one of them and click the same icon.

Also normal, you are editing only that one selected interval. make 1 big interval as per the instructions above.

In this case, you removed all intervals, so there’s nothing to split

I have made a topic in the Guide section that explains the difference between selections and intervals which also covers the different ways of editing/creating intervals.

Success! As in I can create the 1 BIG Interval using the |<->| icon…
and then I can split them to 0.5km or 1km w/o issues.

Then I go out… and back in. and it resets…

Mac / Safari… I’m gonna try another browser

Edit:
Mac / Brave - Same issue. It won’t stick.
I also removed the “keep all laps” and “use laps for intervals” in SETTINGS to see if it’s the cause.

That’s very strange because Intervals normally always keeps any changes that you do without the need for saving. Can’t help with that. @david ?

Hmm it worked fine when I tried it on one of my rides. @Nik_Om_Cinderella_Ri Please msg me a link to the activity you are editing so I can test there. Tx.

Tx David.

I tried this Run: It didnt’ stick.
Phone App:

Garmin Died Halfway

I tried this Ride: It worked.

I then also tried it on other runs on previous 3 weeks (all Friday runs) and it worked.

I then tried downloading the older Run FIT, went into FitFileTools and changed the date to today & yesterday, uploaded it, then did the same thing. Split → 1 interval → Split 0.5km. .Refreshed a few times and it stick!

but the run on Thursday. it Just didn’t stick. It’s just this Run looks like.

Hi @david

Likely you’re busy w/ other things. I’m gonna cleanup my calendar of the duplicate rides/runs and only leave the one which has the issue where the 1km splits didn’t stick.

tx
