RPE during intervals

Hello guys!

Is there any reasonable explanation why or perception of effort is higher at the beginning of any interval section higher than our threshold and decline while the activity goes on? Like those ronnestad intervals, we can see it is becoming harder but the suffering feeling start to disappear at the last 2, 3 reps.

Thanks!

Could be a number of reasons but your body just needs to adjust. I’ve often read that a long 30m warm up is essential, and to tell you the truth if time allowed I’d spend that long warming up myself.

The pros, when preparing for a TT, will warm up by repeating high intensity intervals until their HR comes up quickly. They need to open up the zones.

Edit - There is nothing worse than the last 2 or 3 minutes of the first of 3 or 4 ten minute threshold intervals. They are like the hardest things ever. Then you take 5m recovery and the 2nd 10mins feels absolutely fine. Ugh, the thoughts
