I follow up on my previous attempt trying other BLE browser on iOS, without any lack ![]()
Looking forward a future update! I find using a laptop to control my trainer (or hotel’s trainers!) really inconvenient ![]()
I understand, Marco. I will investigate more. But this will likely have to wait for a Ride Cave mobile app
Future roadmap item.
@Marco_Saraceno good news, looks like I got ride cave working in Bluefy. Give it a try and let me know what bugs you discover.
Also note, the app isn’t currently optimized for mobile experiences, but now that I see more folks using it on mobile, I will add a roadmap item to improve the mobile design.
Hey everyone, as requested by a few users now I will give periodic updates in this thread for important or significant changes. I also give email updates about once or twice a month to people who are signed up.
- As of this morning new updates are out for Atlas the AI coach to make it smarter
- Target cadence and cadence ranges are now supported and display in the workout player (below).
- Gear tracker tool is live and you can now track your bikes and equipment refresh schedules on Ride Cave
- Sound cues are live
- Blog post is up on our new support for iOS Blog - Indoor Cycling Tips, Guides & Training Insights | Ride Cave
A few users have also asked if there are any Facebook groups, etc. there are not currently but we do have a discord Ride Cave
I gave it a quick spin, and it connect properly with my Kickr Ride, thanks! Today I do not have any ride workout planned, but I should tomorro! Once I get a full hour of trainign, I will be able to provide more feedback!
I’ve been busy the last couple of weeks and didn’t get a second occasion to test out Ride cave until today.
You clearly did a ton of work already to improve multiple things
.
I like the clean interface when using it as a workout player. Everything needed is there and nicely set up. Power match experience was good for steady state and 3m intervals, corrects the trainer power perfectly. Time zone issue is solved, finished ride comes in to Intervals as a Virtual Ride. Sound notice on interval changes is there.
Overall a very good experience, thanks!
Just a request on cadence: my trainer isn’t sending cadence, but my Favero’s are. Can you do something to allow reading cadence from the Power Meter?
Today I rode a 50min workout pushed from intervals on the app running on my iPhone.
Here below my comments.
Overall, I had a pleasant experience, the workout is easy to follow. The area of improvement on iOS in my opinion are the following:
- I have my iPhone screen lock after a few minutes, so I had to touch the screen to wake it up;
- took me while to figure out how to load interval.icu planned workout. I would’ve expected to click the Calendar icon on the homepage….
- the layout is not totally small screen - mobile friendly, but it is workable
I found a bug with HR: even if the connection with my H10 at the beginning was working well, after a few minutes the reading stuck at 97bpm for the full session … this was kind of disappointing.
Thanks!
@MedTechCD thank you so much! Great feedback. Let me look into cadence from PM when connected. Also, what trainer are you using?
@Marco_Saraceno great, I’m glad you were able to ride on your iphone! Big success. I will look into adding a keep awake, we do this for Android already.
The app definitely hasn’t been fully optimized for mobile, but I will work on that soon.
Also, updates out as of today:
- Workout Plan Templates - create reusable workout plans. Have a plan that worked well? Use it again for next year.
- Public workout plans - share them with others. Train the same plan as a group.
- Gear tracker - track your bikes and component refresh cycles
- Atlas is now smarter and can create and edit detailed workouts, plans, and general strategy. Ask it for detailed refinements and it should be able to do it.
There’s a problem with the output FIT file when skipping an interval.
The timeline follows the planned workout where it should follow the timeline of what is done.
To your question regarding the trainer: I have a Dare2Ride Fuego 1. Hardware is OK but there’s little to none after sales support for firmware updates and issues. It wasn’t my best purchase…
@MedTechCD the likely fix for this is live. I’m giving it a try and on my trainer as we speak.
@Marco_Saraceno a fix for your iPhone locking should also be live, but I have not tested yet with Bluefy (they have a proprietary API for this). And I’ve added your other items to the roadmap I will look into why that heart rate monitor wasn’t working well.
Ultimately, right now, I am only one person working on this so I will have to rely on reports from you all. Thank you very much!
Hi, I tried the app once and think it is very well done.
I’d like to suggest, if possible, to show the remaining time per interval (or maybe customize the info shown during the workout).
I feel like the elapsed and remaining time for the whole workout are a little redundant (or maybe is it just me who likes making subtractions
)
I think that’s a great idea. They do seem redundant now that you say that, let me do a few more workouts to be convinced but I can replace time elapsed cell with interval time (which is actually already in there on the live power chart - bottom right).
Also, as of this morning:
- Atlas (our AI coach) can convert images of workouts to workouts on Ride Cave (just copy and paste or upload and send). It’s fast and very cool.
- There’s an all new Stadium View for track experiences showing all new isometric models for each track from around the world. Feel the scale and aesthetic of each track. It feels like watching a sporting event!
- 2 new track races: points and scratch
Happy Riding!
One feature that might work well & is mathematical so should be feasible presumably is to create a live W’ Bal to use particularly during the races but also during Tabata/HIT intervals. This could aid pacing as it would help to estimate how hard I could go in the recovery laps i.e. trying not to fall too far behind the leaders but know how many matches I had to burn when the sprint lap arrives to avoid being last. It would probably require that users had Intervals (where it is already a feature in the planning stage, though not the live execution) or that Ride Cave calculated their W’ & so W’ Bal whch could then be live as Ride Cave is running the race/workout. But hopefully not beyond Atlas’s capabilities. I presume that real life racers will use feel but with a graphic/HUD display we can make it more scientific.
Hi David, I will be creating a custom “complications” (aka custom workout players) soon where you can create your own data displays. Working on Group Rides right now and will prioritize this soon. Then you can create your own W’ Bal data display and even share it with the community.
Just waiting for Coach Watts to return my big gears so that I can go faster than 15kph. I am still chesty though (damp weather in UK) & so it might be a while. Like summer at my current recovery rate. I suppose that I could disable the Intervals sync for the race so that CW didnt know about it & plead ignorance when my HRV plummets the following day.
Hi Ben,
This app looks really good. One suggestion I’d have is the option to add a cadence sensor separately to the trainer. Some trainers don’t have it I believe and I always prefer the idea of the sensor attached to my pedal crank than what the trainer thinks I’m doing.
I hope to test this out in the next few days and give you more feedback but that was the first thing that stood out when I noticed you could connect a HRM, Power or trainer but not cadence sensor.
I saw the track mode, but had not the time/occasion to test it yet. But I’ll do !!! If I understand correctly at the present time one cannot load his/her workout to be performed on the track, am I correct?
I’ll try one of the easiest one available ! it seems a lot of fun !
You can ride your workouts when registered and connected to Intervals in a ‘workout player’, but that’s not on the track. Once connected, open your profile and a calendar with the planned workouts will appear. Click and ride, very user-friendly and straightforward.
The calendar now automatically opens when you are registered and click on ‘Ride Now’.
Yes, I’ve already tried one workout, but not on the track Tab. I selected one from the list.
