Relative SMO2 (Tested with humon)

Hey everyone,

I recently completed an analysis on hemoglobin levels and their relative changes (dsmo2) in athletes, aiming to detect early signs of fatigue. I wanted to share some insights from this analysis, as it might be useful for those interested in optimizing training and recovery.

Why hemoglobin matters: Hemoglobin is essential for transporting oxygen throughout the body. Monitoring its levels can provide valuable information about an athlete’s performance and recovery status. By tracking the relative change in hemoglobin (dsmo2), we can identify trends that may signal overtraining or fatigue.

Here’s a quick summary of the results:

  • Average hemoglobin level: 14.69%
  • Relative change (dsmo2):
    • Average: 0.00%
    • Maximum: 1.77%
    • Minimum: -0.40%
  • Fatigue detection: The analysis showed no significant signs of fatigue based on current data.

The goal is to understand how consistent drops in dsmo2 could potentially indicate fatigue, while stable or positive values suggest a well-recovered state. This approach could help athletes adjust their training loads and recovery periods to avoid burnout.

I’d be curious to hear if anyone else has experience monitoring similar metrics or using data to optimize athletic performance. How have you approached tracking fatigue and recovery in your own training or with athletes you coach?

THanks ! I never heard about that , can you share the studys/research?

And today i did a Ride with Moxy , and record with two devices Garmin and Breakaway , i see a little different pattern in graph (horizontal lines), from the same ride.

This is extracted from documentation provided by the manufacturer (WKO5 has something similar). I don’t know if there is any paper, although this chart, in addition to using the information provided to me, also uses logic for the use of NIRS devices in training. I’m sorry I can’t provide you with any paper and remember to use the chart and analyze your data afterwards. If there is anything to improve, we can continue in this thread.

i realize when i mix file in GOTOES , for correct distance or time , i have changes in charts
a example form the same session

if you notice i have different results from the same workout, and both have smo2 and thb values , from my understanding maybe one not picking the right “thb” values , anyway i can change the script to correct this?
