Recent issue syncing

It’s a weird one. To be honest I was surprised my Zwift rides were coming in via garmin to start with. In final surge I’m connected to both garmin and Strava as rides go from Zwift to both Strava and garmin but only the Strava ones makes it through to final surge. It looks like garmin have applied the same 3rd party push block here now as well.

Thank you! It worked!

You don’t need to unzip anymore. Intervals.icu now supports upload of zip files. It will process all the fit and gpx files found in the zip.

Brilliant, thanks David. Just a thought, not sure if the data is there but can you get the activity title from the .fit file? I noticed my TR → GC activity has the title but when I uploaded the .fit from TR (via Dropbox) it just says ‘Lunch Ride’

Unfortunately not. I only get the raw fit file from Garmin Connect and that does not contain the activity name. So you have to edit that afterwords in Intervals.icu.

The “Lunch Ride” is generated by Intervals.icu.

Just curious if something changed? My ride auto uploaded from garmin connect today.

Was if from a Garmin head unit? That still works. Its rides from 3rd parties (Zwift, TrainerRoad) that have stopped coming through.

Yes it was from a garmin head unit. Sorry for getting hopes up!

I am getting the same thing. I have TR synced and connect synced, but have the same issue with TR rides not syncing.

Yes unfortunately Garmin no longer sends 3rd party files to apps like Intervals.icu. I have just added Dropbox support (see /settings page) so if you can get TR to push there you can download from the same folder to Intervals.icu.

Because i had 2 activities last week (Wednesday and Sunday)that did not sync, If i try to manual upload a file i get this message “Uploading 1/1 2021-04-04_CiclismoEn.fit: No session start_time found”

This is a file from TrainiingPeaks

Could you please mail that to david@intervals.icu and I should be able to fix things. Tx.

I have a workout from Zwift uploaded to GC, which not sync. What’s the best possibility for sync. Zwift don’t support dropbox. Can I rewoke Strava ?

Yes enabling Strava will work. I am currently researching other ways to do this.

Working perfectly David, thanks for doing that. Also, do you have permissions to delete the file after uploading to stop the files from building up on Dropbox?

Currently Intervals.icu only asks for write access if you want to upload to Dropbox (not deployed yet). I am not keen to build “delete after download” functionality … very dangerous … the smallest bug with that …

Hi David,

I have recently signed up and trying to get my historical Garmin connect data into Intervals.icu. I have tried setting the ‘download activities from’ date to both the last week and 1 year ago, and neither option successfully syncs any past activities. I have also tried disconnecting and reconnecting. Past activities are from my Garmin devices so I don’t think they should be running into any problem with the 3rd party app restriction.

New activities are successfully syncing through.

Thanks!

I can see the backfill calls in the log. Garmin is rejecting them as duplicates “duplicate backfill processed at 2021-06-02T05:29:52Z” which does imply that one was done before so I don’t know why you don’t have activities in your history. I don’t know how long they “remember” those backfill calls for.

I did some googling at it seems you can request all of your data from Garmin: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/account/datamanagement/

Your request will be submitted and a download link will be emailed to you. Links typically are sent in 48 hours but can take up to 30 days.

If that works you can bulk upload the .fit files to intervals.icu. If you try that please post some details of what they send you. I could do an option to process the download link directly from Intervals.icu.

Thanks for looking into it! I had tried that also after the sync failed. The zip file they provided contains (amongst many things) 3 zip files containing all of the historical fit files. I have tried uploading one of these bulk zip files but this also failed.

Is there a way I can get the data export download link to you for analysis? I’d rather not post it in a public forum.

Sure. Just mail me: david@intervals.icu.

The zip is probably too big to upload.
