Minefield of AI layers over intervals.icu -> simplicity is key?

Hi everyone,

Since last season I’ve decided to go self-trained again. I’ve been training myself again since October 2025 which is going quite OK, however from time to time it would be nice to get some feedback.

I know more or less what my body can do and how to structure, however with a full day job and a first child coming up making my schedule also consumes some energy.

I’ve been looking into some tools to give me some input. However I’m not looking for something bulky (no trainerroad, join.cc, full blow trainingplans). I’m racing at the highest amateur level and have a lot of races scheduled in as well. Recently I started looking at the apps that read your history from intervals.icu and can suggest trainingplans. However… There seem to be so many (and some look overkill).

The ideal for me would be that I remain in charge of the bigger picture but that the tool can suggest/make me the optimal training for the next day. Where ideally i’m again in charge to tell it that I want a Vo2max workout today and a Fatmax one tomorrow.

Today I schedule my own week with my own trainings (where I made a library). I usually do 2-3 intense trainings (Red), one moderate that would tipically be Fatmax or low torque (Orange), one pure low Z2 (Blue) and one recovery (Green). This brings me to 6 trainingdays/week and the right structure.

Where do I struggle with? The optimal workout of these 6 trainingdays. (not really the type of workout 30"/30", 40"/20" - but more the best intensity, repeats, sets - duration of the training)

So what I’m looking for? A tool that can read my history and see how I do on the workouts. Suggesting a proper workout that is do-able and taking into account what I suggest of type of training (red, orange, blue or green day). If good it also gives some context to the training as to why we do this and how to execute. No need to be able to plan weeks in advance. A bonus would be that it can give feedback and some optimal CHO intake for the training.

I’m okay building the workout myself in my calendar if there is no sync option.

I’m sure something along these lines already exists but there are too many linked Apps now to try them all myself. Anyone that can point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Tim

Have you looked at Xert and their magic buckets?
I don’t like them myself because they don’t take physiology into account, however you can manage load yourself and their “AI” tool adjusts to larger degree. You can use their workouts or build your own or just free ride filling their “buckets”…

Just a few weeks ago I’ve been looking for exactly the same thing. As I didn’t find it, I built it myself.
