Hello,
Since few months I’m struggling to convert the MAS (maximum aerobic speed) of my athletes to FTP for Running.
We are not using power for running training and I would prefer to use MAS % to plan the activities instead of searching the right pace vs ftp.
Would it be possible to have in the “Settings” the maximum aerobic speed and its zones for “Run”??
Best regards
Kasia
You can set up Pace Settings to match MAS zones, and build workouts based on pace instead of power.
On the settings screen, from the activity profile for Run activities:
Set all options to Pace first (Training Load Priority, Time in Zones, Workouts, Intervals)
Set Threshold Pace to MAS
Set Pace Training Zones to match what zones you use with MAS
Then in your workouts, ensure you use the ‘pace’ keyword on each line.
ok, you’re right it can be a good idea
I’ll try that
but the load won’t be right in this case
thanks
I’m in the same situation. I coach a group of young middle-distance athletes and I build most of their training plans based on %MAS rather than % of threshold pace.
As @David_R mentioned, I could “cheat” the system by setting MAS as the Threshold Pace in the user settings, but as @Kasia_PARET pointed out, that would make the training load calculation inaccurate.
Would it be possible to add a dedicated field for MAS in the user settings, so that in the workout builder we could choose to work either with %PACE (based on threshold) or with %MAS? That way, pace targets would be calculated consistently, and training load would remain accurate.
Also interested in a dedicated field for MAS
See here
But premium only and for now WIP.
Oh, it’s just perfect!
Thanks a lot!
Are you using a custom MAS field? I can’t seem to find it. If anyone is, could you make it public?
