Hi,
A decent part of my weekly cycling load is carried by my commutes t/f work. I am on a bike without powermeter and use no heart rate belt. The activity is, though, recorded by Strava with my phone.
Unfortunately, this rides do not get any estimated Load and therefore disturb my freshness-calculation since these commutes are felt by my legs after all :).
My question:
- is there anyway to get a score from these ridings?
- would it be enough to use a fitness watch that has a Strava connection and can measure pulse?
A related question: How can I in the same way incorporate my weight training into the over all Fitness reading?
Thanks for input
Morten

If you don’t have any input that allows some form of estimating the load, you can only set a load manually.
Do you mostly ride your commutes with a similar intensity? Or do you go every day by how you feel? If you mostly ride at a similar intensity, you could do a couple of them with a HR belt and average the Load that results from them. Then after the commute is synced from Strava, click on Load in the summary and enter the average value.
Once you have an input, like HR from a fitness watch, load calculation will be better. If you already have enough data with HR and Power from your other rides, Intervals has a nice model built-in that estimates Load from HR based on that.

Thanks for the advice, @MedTechCD . I have a similar situation as @Morten_Horning_Jense .
However, when i determine my ‘load’ for these commutes (i ride at about the same intensity each day) I can’t find a way to do a bulk edit of Load on all my commute entries?
I’ve got A LOT of commutes…not sure i want to go back and manually edit load on each one individually.
Bulk edit for Load is not possible but you can set a filter for Commute on the activity List view and add the Load Column. Then edit on the grid by pasting the same load for each.
That’s probably going to be the fastes way to do this.

Awesome! Thanks @MedTechCD
Thanks - this is most helpful.
Just to be sure:
- If I get myself a fitness watch, an estimated Load from HR will be done automatically (since I have tons of rides with watts/HR)?
- For now I can only manually type in the Load in List view.
And oh, by the way, would anyone have a suggestion as to which fitness watch to look out for? I guess Strava integration or Garmin integration is the key point (I am using a Garmin head unit).
