Intervals v Strava

Intervals offers the option of “seeing” my fitness chart/graph in Strava but when I am transferred to Strava I see different data.
Not only are the numbers different but the fitness trend line is almost the opposite as below:

Intervals
12/5/24 72
1/29/25 89

Strava
12/5/24 159
1/29/25 101

Now, I think that intervals is correct. I know I have gained fitness. I have been working longer and harder since early 12/5/24 and my VO2max has climbed from 49 to 53.
Any comments? Thanks.

Intervals is great at adding definitions so for terms you’re not sure on i’s worth having a click and read.

Fitness is a 42 day exponentially weighted moving average of your training load.

There’s also a strava glossary

Main things to consider:

  • have you set your ftp valaues tthe same over time
  • do yo train without power? if so there will be differences in how they compute training load
  • which model in strava you are using, relative effort, power or both
  • probably a difference in the moving average calculations too (i.e. one includes a big week of load a while ago and in the other it’s expired).
