Hi everyone,
I’ve made quite a mess of my account and could really use some guidance on how to recover cleanly.
Here’s what happened: I uploaded my full Strava history (years of data) and then also uploaded my entire Garmin export, assuming intervals.icu would deduplicate automatically. It didn’t, so I ended up with a ton of duplicates. Rather than carefully filtering and deleting just the Strava activities, I decided to just delete everything and start fresh.
Midway through mass-deleting activities, I realized how slow the deletion process was for such a large number of activities and stopped. I then tried to undelete everything to revert back to my original plan of only deleting the Strava activities. However, the 1,000+ activities I had already deleted are nowhere to be found — they don’t show up when filtering by “deleted”, and they’re not in my regular activity list either. They seem to be permanently gone.
So now I’m in a weird in-between state: some activities are still there, some are deleted and visible, and over a thousand are just… missing.
At this point I’d like to just cut my losses and do a proper clean slate — delete everything and re-upload only my Garmin data. Before I do that, I have two questions:
-
Will deleted activities block a re-import? My concern is that even after deleting everything, the activities still seem to exist in some kind of trash/soft-delete state. If I try to re-upload my Garmin files, will the system reject them as duplicates of those soft-deleted activities? Or does deletion fully clear the way for a fresh import?
-
Is there a smarter way to approach this? Given the state my account is in, is there a recommended workflow to cleanly end up with only my Garmin data — without duplicates and import errors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
