How do I set the "Use elevation correction" option to default off

I use a Garmin watch to automatically sync data to ICU, but I’ve noticed that the Climbing data in each sync is very inaccurate. This is because all the data synced to ICU has the “Use elevation correction” feature enabled.

I tried to disable “Use elevation correction” in the settings of individual workout data, but it only applies to that particular data entry. I also attempted to update the settings for all data by setting “Use elevation correction” to “no” in the “Update Settings” under “Edit” for all data, but it only modifies the data within the current selected time range. After trying both methods, the newly uploaded data still defaults to having “Use elevation correction” enabled.

How can I disable this setting so that this feature is turned off for all future data syncs?

Climbing:

  1. Enabled “Use elevation correction”
  2. Disable “Use elevation correction”

Settings:

  1. Individual workout data
  2. Total workout data

You have to set it like this (if your watch has correct elevation data):

As mentioned in my post, I have already set this, see setting 1, but this setting only applies to the current workout data. What I want is for it to apply to all future synchronized data.

Your first screenshot shows ‘Use Elevation Correction’ checked. It must be unchecked and your watch must be defined as having correct elevation.
If you leave Use Elevation Correction checked, Intervals will use elevation data from DEM maps.

Hi guys, my watch has recently been playing up with its altimeter. I have logged a ticket with Garmin to see if they can fix it. Anyway I was wondering if there is any option with this feature in intervals where I can select the runs since my watch has stopped working and giving bogus elevation and just use GPS data instead for those select activities? I don’t want to update the watch type as it should have accurate elevation if it was working properly (Garmin 255). Cheers

Check ´Elevation Correction´ and keep device setting as is.
Once your watch is repaired, uncheck it again.

Hmm, I have tried above, and also reprocessing after doing that, and also re-downloading from Garmin but in the altitude graphs it still doesn’t update to reflect

I was expecting this to be corrected based on GPS, am I missing any other step? Thanks

For the plot, I think you need to add Fixed Alt

The Elevation Gain field should already be good if I’m not mistaking.

That’s its, thanks for your help.

I was needed same help about this, with your post I understand everything

My Garmin Instinct sometimes just piles on elevation gain in the flat or even going downhill. For example, a walk on a nearby hill is about 110m difference in altitude. The trail is pretty much a continuous uphill then downhill with only very little descending during the way up and vice versa. I got 217m coming from Garmin. I checked “Use elevation correction”, but this raised the elevation gain to 274m. I unchecked it and now it shows 134m, which I’d say is a very reasonable value. Please help me out here, what’s going on and what do I have to do to get elevation fixed likes this for all hikes and walks?
