Growing lactate transporters / lactate shuttling

Hello,

I like the idea that kinda short threshold training might help growing lactate shuttling capacity.
You work around threshold but no too long and with proper recovery to avoid big rise in blood lactate. This way you have a nice gradient between muscle fibers and blood and maybe this is good condition to boost lactate shuttling proteins.

What’s your idea on this guys ?

Thanks

This is somewhat a very loose variation of a over/under workout you are talking about - albeit I wouldn’t say it was optimally programmed as such. Working for this short threshold interval durations with full recovery is going going to add much stimulus unless new to structured training etc.

I would have a listen to the Kolie Moore/ Empirical Cycling episode on the subject ref lactate clearance, lactate production, lactate tolerance etc.

Period above threshold, period below - repeat. Increase TiZ above/ below, increase/ decrease power above/ below - repeat.

I agree with @Olly_Thomas . Over-Under´s are excellent to improve lactate shuttling.
I mostly do 3 series of 4x2min 105% with 1min @ 90-95% in between. 4min Z1 in between the 12min series.

thank you guys, the idea here is not typical over under, what about the idea of creating a big gradient between the blood and the muscle fibers ? giving more recovery might help this uh ?

when Norwegians in triathlon (Iden & Blummenfelt) or lap running (Ingebrigstens) show us short threshold training (short in comparison of the usual tempo workout with lets say 2x20 min at FTP) with the goal of maintenaient a lactate around 2,5/3, are they on something only good for their olympic level or can we infer something ?
