Hi, I’ve been adding e-bike rides for a while now and they are recognised as ebike from Garmin but don’t seem to use the settings, e.g. default bike but always use the Ride settings. e.g. Intervals.icu
Also, e-bike activities could use the same personalized layout (graphs, charts, etc) as normal cycling and MTB. I see no reason for having a completely different set of analysis.
If you add E-Bike Ride to the list of activities for “Ride” in /settings then they will be treated in exactly the same was as a normal ride.
If you want e-bike rides to have different zones and so on, then you have set things up correctly. If you want then to be the same as normal rides then you need to click the pencil next to the activity types for “Ride” and add it there. You will need to delete the “E-Bike-Ride” settings first.
I’m still confused, and am obviously missing something. To simplify things I edited “Ride” to accept only Rides, and “E-Bike Rides” to only accept e-bikes. I also updated the default gear for “Ride” to Reilly T640D. But todays’s ride still used the old default gear (I’ve since updated the ride). Do I need to do anything to make the changes stick for new activities?
How do you import your data?
All my rides come through a linked folder in Dropbox, where I put Garmin fit files.
Do these files have the correct Sport (sub) type?
You can check that there:
Look under “Sport” or “Session”:
Should be something like e bike riding for your activities.
Is this the case?
Thanks. Yesterday’s ride had sport as “cycling” and sub sport as “e bike fitness”. It also had the correct bike name. Intervals does seem to recognise it as an E-Bike Ride so I guess that’s OK. But it’s not applying the settings I expect (default bike, HR, Power, Pace instead of Power, HR, Pace), I assume I’ve got something wrong in my settings but I can’t see where.
When you go to Edit Gear, do you have the default activity set correct?
Example for my three bikes
And did you create an extra category for your E-Bike rides similar to what I did for MTB?
Thank you, looking at your screenshots I found a couple of anomalies in my setup, so have fixed them in the hope it works.
Some of the setting under "Edit Gear"did not match what I set as “Default Gear” for the activity. It seems possible to edit the Default Gear independently of the setting under Edit Gear. I now have, as an example;
which should be correct.
Thanks again. I went into Edit Gear as you suggested and it all seems to work, I’ve done a run and an e-bike ride and both used the correct defaults
