Default bike/ Ride type

I dont understand how ride types is working. I sold my roadbike in the spring. I have retired it as gear on strava and here. Have a gravel bike now to complement my mtb. My gravel rides are registred correct as gravel rides on strava now, thanks to activityfix, but here they are just rides, why is that ?
And the default bike here is the gravel bike too.

I need to check. But I think there’s a specific sub type in the fit file for gravel. (Like trail running , indoor running etc).

You might want to check the FIT file in fitfileviewer.com and see if it’s marked w the correct sub type.

It’s correct on strava, and reload from strava does not fix it here.

What device are you using to record your data, eg. Garmin, Wahoo, Polar, Coros, etc.

You said “now they are correct thanks to acrivityfix”. Which is why that leads me to my question if the subtype is correct.

Wahoo Roam v2

I never use subtype here, is 99% of the time not relevant for me. Type is Gravel ride on strava.

https://www.reddit.com/r/wahoofitness/comments/1kksr30/how_to_setup_profile_as_gravel_ride/

looks like the Roam doesn’t have this subtype, so everything gets logged as RIDE SportType

As a refresher. In Garmin’s FIT definition, there are 2 ways to define an activity.
Type: Ride
SubType: Road / Indoor / Virtual / Gravel etc…

Type: Run
SubType: Road / Trail / Treadmill / Street etc.

if based on what you wrote above about your head unit and the reddit post above, my guess is that your Wahoo is the reason for the ride not being labelled as what you want.

You can confirm this by downloading the Original FIT file from your Wahoo Unit, then putting it into fitfileviewer.com and looking at the subtype (if it exists)

eg: A Trail Run I did. if your headunit/watch does not have the subsport, it would only be known as a RUN type and won’t get classified as a Trail Run. You’ll have to manually change it at whichever site you uploaded it to.

Did you have to manually change it or it is Gravel after the upload (w/o activity fix)

AFAIK, Wahoo doesn’t have profiles like Garmin, so that rules out that option.

In your Intervals /Settings, what does your default bike setup look like?
You mention it in your OP, but is it setup like that?

Yes, i know that. But activityfix changes the type when i upload a ride to strava

Acitivityfix change it when its uploaded.

No it probably does this after upload. Intervals could get the web hook before it is changed by activityfix

If you have a powermeter, you can use the serial number to assign at least the correct gear.

More tips here on gears. Maybe it helps you at least for gears.

For activity type. Since your head unit doesn’t do sub type… but shouldn’t matter much since you no longer do road bikes.
