Configure zones based on HR max or vVO2max

In interval, the zones are configured based on HR% and threshold rhythm. Isn’t it possible to base on HRmax or vVO2max pace?

Not at the moment. I chose using percentages of LTHR as a base because that is somewhat portable between athletes and then your zones adjust when LTHR changes. You can just capture whatever bpm values you like onto the grid.

@david, I’ll add my vote for this as a Feature Request: using %HRmax to set zones, not only %LTHR.

Why? Because it’s an excellent method for discussing intensity and energy systems. Dr. Seiler uses it as his base method, including his end of year endurance survey.

While it’s possible to fiddle with the percentages of %LTHR to get the numbers to fit, it requires extra steps. There are easy to identify %HRmax norms from which slight individual variances occur. I think in terms of %HRmax, not %LTHR. In fact, I’m entirely unconcerned about the latter.

It’s possible that neither %LTHR nor %HRmax for identifying zones is the way to go. As those of us who have tracked and maintained awareness of respirations have noticed, VT1 is incredibly accurate.
