I saw lots of great technical, over my head discussion about the details of these new metrics that are displayed for each ride. My question is much simpler, and perhaps the answer is not simple: can I use the difference between carbohydrates ingested and carbohydrates utilize to help me figure out how many carbohydrates I need to ingest off the bike (before and after a ride)? I’m sure the answer is a version of “it depends!”
For example, I just did a 90-minute threshold interval ride, ingesting 85 g of carbohydrates on the bike, but apparently utilizing 281 grams. Should I try to make up the 197 g deficit by eating 3½ bagels at 57g/bagel??
