Best way to integrate apple watch / apple health data into intervals.icu

Hi Joseph, how were you able to get the history from HealthFit to Intervals? I have a new client with an Apple watch, but struggling to get workout history in Intervals.

I was using Healthfit to sync health data from Apple Watch (eg resting heart rate). You need to go to the health tab and hit an export to intervals button every so often

For Apple Watch workouts, I sync them from Apple health to strava which then syncs to intervals.

just got myself healthfit and it looks amazing! Thanks for the suggestion in this thread.

I can’t seem to push my historic workouts though, there doesn’t seem to be a way to manually sync only “auto sync new workouts”. Anyone know how?

Connected to Intervalls.icu through a Service?

yes, healthfit

what specific features do you use the most of it? I’m planning on adding HRV integration between Health from ios (your apple watch reports to it) and intervals

Digging up this thread.

Recently started using Intervals, I’m cycling and tracking with Wahoo. My main app was Strava, not using it much anymore.
I’m looking at adding vitals to intervals and found HealthFit. This looks promising.
I would still continue to upload my rides from Strava, so I’d only upload the other metrics (HRV, sleep, BPM) from Apple Health via HealthFit.

However I’m wondering how I get other training data onto Intervals. Running I could still do via Strava, but core and other workouts? I obviously want to avoid duplicates and read that in HealthFit I choose vital metrics and workouts - but with workouts I would have my rides (and possibly eins) duplicated.

Anything I’m missing here?

What else you want to sync and from what app?

Intervals has most of the major watches integrated and can upload directly.

Also. You can / should bypass Strava if you have the option.

There are other options beside healthfit depending on what you want / need.

Well, I guess mainly cycling, a bit of running and then body weight training, core / functional strength. And the vital metrics from my watch.

I guess I can also use Wahoo for running, that leaves me with the other AW workouts, which I don’t see a way to integrate into Intervals without HealthFit. But you’re right, Strava would become obsolete then, as I can directly send from Wahoo to Intervals.

So it’s basically you want to integrate your AW stuffs into Intervals right?

So
Wahoo → Intervals (Cycling)
AW (Running / Gym etc) → HealthFit → Intervals
AW (HealthMetrics - HR / HRV / Weight) → HealthFit → Intervals

seems like that settles it.

Great, that’s how I assumed it following some of the threads. Wanted to ensure prior purchasing HealthFit.

One question remains though.

Cycling → Wahoo → Intervals
Cycling → Wahoo → Health → HealthFit → Intervals

How do I prevent duplicate rides? Can I force Intervals to use only Wahoo for cycling?

Duplicates happen; it’s as easy as manually deleting the file that is not required, upon reviewing the workouts for the day/week.

I don’t have a Wahoo, but on Garmin, there is this option to filter the activities to download. If there is one, you can use that.

I currently do not yet support syncing Apple Watch Activities (but have started the work and currently stuck on how to get cadence data. seems like Apple Health doesn’t really store cadence data per second. Looking for beta users to test it out as well in future.)

I do however support Apple Health → Intervals . You can give it a go (no purchase needed currently. I linked the app at one of the above posts)

If I stop disconnecting Strava now, it will delete all my Strava activities on Intervals it says, due to API license restriction from Strava (thanks Strava).
I could then reupload all from Wahoo and continue from there it seems and all would be good.

You’re right, that would be a rather simple task, if necessary. But intervals has some sort of duplicate detection I read?

In HealthFit, you can chose what kinds of training you automatically want to upload to intervals.
So you could leave out cycling in HealthFit, and sync wahoo to intervals. And only choose running/rowing/hiking in Heathfit, or whatever fits your needs.

Wahoo → Apple Health → HealthFit → Intervals will possibly lose some information, as Apple doesn’t show wahoo routes for example, or doesn’t store L/R power data separately.

Yes, it does but it depends on the device(s) used and how the data is “added” to Intervals.

Example:
I dual record (Zwift/TP Virtual and my Garmin) as there are metrics on both that I’d want in the single file that is used in my various applications (Intervals, TP, WKO5), and mostly on indoor workouts. So an app like Gotoes.org is useful to merge the data from both. This results in three files, i.e. virtual app, Garmin and the merged file.

Other examples:

  • I dual record on my rides (Edge and Forerunner). Both come from Garmin and aren’t picked up as duplicates.
  • I’ll use my Apple Watch occasionally on the IDT, if I’ve forgotten to charge my Garmin, or left it on after a prior workout. HealthFit works to get the power data in as Strava strips the power out (on runs; not that I care about power on runs).

some sort yes… not perfect and it’s always better to err on the side of caution. Deleting stuffs, esp automatically, no matter how good the intention is…

just request a Strava archive download and then upload that here to replace all of the strava API data. This way, you’ll (likely) be sure not to have to deal w/ duplicates. Now that I think of it, I wonder if the raw data will have the Strava ID and Name & desc or is it really the “original - original” data from Wahoo/Garmin etc

I record my cycling workouts using Wahoo. Running workouts using AWU. Swimming pool using AWU. Gym using AWU.

Wahoo: I directly upload to Intervals and have all my bike workout data there. Likewise from Wahoo it uploads directly to Strava and also to HealthFit, where I then have that workout listed in the Health app.
AWU: syncs all workouts to HealthFit, from there it syncs automatically to Intervals and to Strava for me.

I only use these two connections and nothing else. Everything is organized as a whole. I recommend because it’s very simple and practical.

That sounds exactly like what I need to setup!

AWU = Apple Watch? U?

You excluded cycling within HealthFit to not be exported to Intervals I suppose.

I need to look into the settings, this sounds promising, thanks!

Yes, Apple Watch Ultra.
