Hi there - This is not at all an Intervals question, but I’ve come to realize what an incredible knowledge base you folks have, so hoping you might have suggestions.
I’ve just today gotten my wife to see why people use training zones. She’s a very non-quantitative, casual exerciser - but she just got an apple watch and is interested in being able to track her exercise better. I’m an android and garmin guy, so no clue about the apple ecosystem, but couldn’t find an app on her phone that would let us look at the data from a workout she did and see HR zone percentages, or much of anything else.
There’s some kind of Fitness app but it didn’t seem to have collected HR data from a workout she did, even though the watch (Series 3) was showing HR during the workout.
Any suggestions on an app or two to check out for her?
Thanks!
Michael
You could try an app called Workoutdoors, I use it for running and it’s very good. I use an external heart rate monitor but I expect it will collect the internal HR data if not.
Thanks John. I saw there’s also Healthfit. I wasn’t clear if that one was primarily a bridge to other platforms like intervals and Strava, or if it also is useful standalone.
Yes, I use Healthfit as well, workoutdoors for the run and Healthfit for the sharing, as you thought.
So Healthfit by itself doesn’t give you post-workout analysis at all?
HealthFit seems to do a very full analysis, just that I don’t use it for that screenshot of a run and also the HR Zones page -

If you’re a complete newbie using Apple Watch for fitness/training — start extremely simple and don’t try to overload yourself with 10 different apps at once. Focus on consistent short sessions daily — 10–20 min workouts are enough in the beginning + track your rings every day. Also, an Apple Watch helps you gamify progress which keeps motivation easier long term. If you ever decide you want to build something custom in the future and not depend just on existing apps — here’s a good resource to learn how to
