alphaHRV (update)

using the data field on Garmin Edge 840 for a few weeks.
I have also activated the “readiness to fit-file” option and the score is shown in GC.

Is there a way to sync this to intervals? It appears as if the “readiness” field on the wellness tab is something different, at least it does not provide the score. I also sync some snapshot data from GC but this readiness score does not.

Anything I am doing wrong here or is it currently not possible to get the score automatically?

thanks

You can use the activity field Readiness (Ra)

couldn’t find it before, many thanks

Perhaps a system notification/alert (so it pops up regardless of which screen is active) would be helpful. Just like workout target, hydration, nutrition, etc reminders.

https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/api-docs/Toybox/WatchUi/DataFieldAlert.html

My Edge 840 gives a warning (audible alert like when you go out of a zone setting) when the Readiness number is available.
Took me 3 rides before I realized why the alert was there…

It would be nice, but unfortunately the DataFieldAlert class has never worked properly.
I test it periodically, so be sure that if at some point Garmin fixes it, I will use it here.
@MedTechCD , you are right. Just when readiness is available, the alert sounds. Then you have 15s to go to any alphaHRV screen. You can also make the Ra value persistent on the screen setting it at the auxiliary field (but it will take the place of power/pace)

hahaha, me too
where is this “chirp” coming from, before I realised it was the readiness score.

btw: during yesterday’s ride, the app crashed immediately after that 20min, no recording of data (alpha1) afterwards.
No idea what happened, have you, or anyone else, has experienced this as well?

thats how it looks like

I occasionally had a crash but not recently.
To quickly recover from those, create a dummy profile on your Garmin device with simply one datafield (not an IQ field). When an IQ field crashes, go to the home page, change to that dummy profile for a couple seconds and then go back to your activity profile. The datafield will restart and you loose only a couple of seconds data.

ok, thats interesting and good to know, will try it if it happens again.
thanks

Crash just at 20 min is an issue that I fixed some versions ago. Check if you are up to date. If not, update. Otherwise, let me know it so that I can investigate

had the update from 19.Aug and updated yesterday after the ride to the 31.Aug.

Ok, let me know if it happens again

Hi Inigo, I have a question regarding the user interface: in the Garmin IQ store there are screenshots suggesting that on the head unit I would see Power metric, on Watches I would see Pace metric among others. I installed the App on my watch as a field in my Running AND Cycling and on both I have only Power metric.

Question: if it is possible to adjust the AlphaHRV App Fields according to activity type? Thanks in advance!

You can select power or pace (among others) to be displayed in the auxiliary field. To do that, use the data field settings.

Just to be on the safe side, I’m talking about the AlphaHRV app interface only.

Me too. Go to settings and select Pace for auxiliary field

Thank you! It is not on the watch, but in the the IQ Store App… took me time to understand

On the previous post - Readiness (Ra) field - is it still there? Couldn’t find it…

Yes, it is as described above.
Be sure you are running an updated version

As some users have already noticed, alphaHRV now provides a readiness assessment during the activity. This is a result of the collaboration with AI Endurance and has been the reason for several updates (and some issues) during this summer.

You can find a detailed explanation on this new feature here → Real-time readiness with alphaHRV and AI Endurance | AI Endurance

Be sure you keep alphaHRV updated checking it periodically at Garmin Connect Mobile
