Activity fields - Garmin - lacking data

Hi,

It has been a couple weeks I noticed some data missing at Activity Fields. Specifically VO2 and Recovery Heart Rate extracted from Garmin.

Any fix yet?

Looks like you missed some important news…

For now, Garmin filters the FIT files sent to Intervals and removes ā€˜Not documented’ metrics. But looks like soon we will have bigger shortcomings. @Andreas_Schnederle-W already put something awesome together as a workaround. It is really good and could just as well be a permanent solution, all-though not as an official part of Intervals.

@Rodrigo_Barreto you may want to have a look here

Yep.

Missed that. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the kind words – and agreed, that’s exactly how it should be. Intervals is an official Garmin partner, so it can’t offer anything that works around Garmin’s rules without putting at risk the integration everyone relies on. Something like the bridge has to come from outside: a private, independent open-source project that each of us runs for our own data, with our own Garmin login – nothing Intervals ships, hosts or endorses. And at least as long as Garmin doesn’t come down hard on tools like this, that’s a perfectly good place for it to live

Is this why my custom fields are missing on the last three workouts?
The last one with complete data was Oct 8.

Can I say I think garmin are scum bags in a public forum?

Does this also affect Strava? I ride a TechnoGym bike, which sends data to Strava, which is pulled by intervals.icu. I’ve lost historical power meter data from all my rides.

@Samantha_Lane yes, almost certainly. The copy Garmin sends to Intervals no longer carries the fields Garmin doesn’t document (VO2max, Recovery HR, Stamina, Training Effect …), so the custom fields built on them stay empty – nothing you did.

Since you already have the bridge: it puts them back from the original file for every new activity once it’s allowed to write (--apply, or ā€œwrite to Intervalsā€ in setup). For the ones already missing, run this once:
garmin-intervals-bridge backfill --scope activities --from 2026-10-08
It shows what it would write. If that looks right, run the same with --apply at the end. For a single activity, the web page’s Actions → One activity again does the same. And the Firefox ā€œforeign formā€ problem is fixed in 0.11.1, out now.

As for the wording – I’d go with ā€œdisappointingā€. Intervals has to stay on good terms with Garmin for the official integration we all rely on, so let’s keep the forum friendly.
