YOUB is definitely not something I vibe-coded over a weekend after riding my bike for six months and discovering that LLMs exist.
We’ve been building it for about a year with a surprisingly competent team:
-
a sports scientist with more than 10 years of experience,
-
a real full-stack engineer who actually knows what he’s doing,
-
a UX designer who makes things usable,
-
and me.
I really tried to come up with a cool job title for myself, but in the end I’m mostly the guy with just enough naivety and too little understanding of what was involved to think this would be a good idea.
One thing we learned quickly: the hard part is not connecting an LLM to your app. The hard part is translating actual sports science into a decision logic that makes sensible day-to-day recommendations.
In YOUB, the LLM is only the communication layer. The training logic itself was built together with our sports scientist and exists independently of the model.
So if you’re looking for more buzzwords, you’ll probably find plenty of “AI coach that truly adapts to your life” thingies elsewhere.
