I recently got a Karoo 3 in addition to my Garmin devices. Everytime I ride with the Karoo 3 my ride files only report that I have power meter “QUARQ 7” instead of the correct ANT ID (I have different bikes with different QUARQ powermeters). I have set up my bikes in the gear panel to also recognize the PM Serial but this does not seem to work either. I need ODO alerts every 300km to wax my chains - this has worked beautifully so far with my Garmin devices but doesn’t ever since getting the Karoo 3.
Could you fix either intervals to read the correct ANT ID from the Karoo files or fix the PM Serial input in intervals.icu?
edit: I have to add here that using the PM serial alone to recognize the bike does work. It just doesn’t work in conjuction with another parameter to recognize the bike. So the feature request just revolves around having XOR choice for parameters to recognize the bike within intervals.
intervals will not recognize it correctly when setting the PM Serial as default gear and combining the PM Name. It seems to me like Garmin is reporting the ANT+ ID as serial in this file:
setting the PM to serial does not work. I have set it up like so:
does not get recognized from my Karoo files this way in intervals unfortunately.
completely ignored that statement. The SN in the files from the Karoo 3 and Garmin don’t match! That’s one of the reason why my approach is not working.
But it is not the same. Karoo reports 29851 as “ANT device number”, but Garmin as “serial number”. Garmin reports “ANT id” as 84636557, which is not found in Karoos file.
I think the problem is, that they report different serial numbers …
Im seriously getting confused.
The 2 files you provided, are they actually the same or different power meters? (I tot they are different, hence the diff serial numbers and such)
It would be great to have the same PM paired to the Karoo and Garmin so you know what is what and what’s happening.
yes I agree. that’s exactly the problem. I can’t get files from the Karoo 3 to automatically set the right default gear using the serial number showing up in the activities feed.
It seems to be different how Garmin and Hammerhead report the ANT IDs, serials or device names but it seems to be a bug in intervals.icu, that you can’t set the default gear to be either X or Y or Z. Maybe this doesn’t apply to the majority of people who don’t use several different GPS devices?
I edited the post above to hopefully make it more clear. Yes, it’s the same sensor connected to different devices, Karoo 3 and Garmin Enduro 3. The devices serial get reported differently from Karoo to Garmin - hence why it shows up differently in intervals.
But in my mind intervals should be able to set default gear with different identifiers. This would be an easy fix without having to touch how the fit files get interpreted. But that does not work for me or maybe I’m doing it wrong?
agreed. so that is why my approach is not working…
So I should rename the thread and edit the tag into Future Request.
I need X OR option for setting default gear in intervals.icu
thank you all for your helpful comments. I’ll see if david or eva are reading this thread sometime and proposing a solution. I’m sure that’s not a pressing issue but I assume it would be an easy fix. until then I’ll just keep manually editing my Karoo 3 files.
I track everything (nearly)
I track mileage of my Front/Rear tyres. Shoes. Bib. Jersey.
kinda want to know the ROI on my investments and how long I can keep using it.
Those are trail running shoes. I like to know how long they last. These Saucony’s are the best brand/model I have ever used. I had half a dozen trail shoes that were completely wrecked after 600-700km (and that’s not even 6 months) before I finally found something that was both comfortable and durable. Pricing was for all very similar but I just have ‘difficult’ feet…
I don’t track my cycling shoes, they go on for years.
I’d like to track also the gear of my bike (tyres, chain, cassette, tubes, …) separately to know when is appropriate to change components, but I’d like to only mark the bike I used during a ride (it’s easier and faster).
Is it possible to “create” a bike as sum of components and add mileage to each of them and change them separately in the future (when, for example, I change the tubes)
That’s how it works.
You create a gear (bike), number 1, and you create components (chain, wax, tubes,…), number 2, which you add to your gear. Then you set reminders for the components, number 3, that need regular maintenance or replacement. When you replace one of the components, you ‘retire’ it and create a new one.
When you do maintenance, you reset the reminder.
