Workout builder to Wahoo for SPRINTS

Hi!

I’ve been trying to set up a sprint workout using the workout builder and send it to Wahoo so that I can control my Kickr (V5) from the app (the free one).
What I want to do is 10 times a 10 seconds sprint (all out!) with 5 minutes in between.

I’ve used the following syntax:
"10x

  • maxeffort Z7 10s
  • 60% 4m50s"

When checking the workout in the Wahoo app it seems OK (visually at least). However, when I tried it yesterday I could not sprint as expected. For the first 2 seconds or so it seemed like I could put some power but afterwards the flywheel just keeps spinning at high speed like there is no resistance from the trainer and I cannot maintain high power, even with a high gear (50-11).

What could be the issue here?

  • Syntax used in the workout builder? (maybe “freeride” + high gear on the bike would work better)
  • Trainer setup? (see below for the details)
  • Something else?

My setup:

  • Trainer = Wahoo Kickr V5
  • Power source = Crank power-meter (4iiii Precision 3+) ; I have set it in the Wahoo app so that the Kickr uses that as the power source + I use the “power smoothing” option in ERG mode
  • I record the session using a Garmin Edge 530. It is not connected to the trainer, only to the power-meter for Power and Cadence data.
  • I had also Zwift running, as well not connected to the trainer, only to the power-meter for Power and Cadence data
  • Control = Wahoo app with workout synced from intervals.icu

Sorry for “revive” this thread.

I want some opnios, regarding sprints indoors 10-40seg . I stopped using ergmode for vo2, threshold realized that it really limit me in these efforts. And for sprints i have been use “resistance mode” , and want to know the most appropriate for indoors , Slope or resistance?
