Which sports have power meters?

I am working on generalising the power stuff in Intervals.icu to sports other than cycling. Which sports (other than cycling) have power and how is it measured?

  • Running: Stryd … others?
  • Rowing

Other running power sources I know of are coros, garmin, polar and runscribe. I’d expect they’d all come through as power in the fit file though. There’s a section in this article about the different sources

Concept 2 has the ski erg as well as the rower so power from those should look the same (they also have the bike erg but that should be covered already by cycling).

Some tech firms are looking at fitting power meters to ski poles for cross country skiing but I haven’t seen any data yet.

Garmin have also implemented XC ski power: Garmin Quietly Rolls Out Cross Country Skiing Power | DC Rainmaker

Hey David,

maybe it’s not the right topic here, but if you are working on implementing the running things - would be glad about something like that:

I just sent you a Garmin export for running with power. Apparently, as I learned today, you don’t have to by their pod or a stryd to enable this. It’s just a feature you have to enable if you are using their HR straps with running dynamics.

As others have mentioned, rowing, skiing, and running all have power now.
Although not common, I have also see pwr meters that go in your palm for swimming. Not sure how you get the data off of them though as they don’t pair with a watch to my knowledge.
