Wellness 'Weight' versus Basic Settings 'Weight'

Would it be possible (and make sense?) to update Basic Setting ‘Weight’ each time a Wellness ‘Weight’ is entered?

My understanding is that Activities use the Wellness ‘Weight’ when it is entered for the day of the Activity. If ‘Weight’ is not entered on the Wellness page, the Activity takes the Basic Setting ‘Weight’.

I enter/update data in the Wellness dialogue box much more frequently that I do in my Basic Settings (and am therefore more likely to keep ‘Weight’ it up to date and accurate if Wellness updated the Basic Setting).

I would expect the Basic Settings ‘Weight’ to update each time I enter my Wellness ‘Weight’.

Changes to; Basic Settings ‘Weight’ and Wellness ‘Weight’ both update Activities Weight.

I’ve just entered a wellness value for TODAY for the default weight field, and it updates the settings page (F5 / hard reload)

Interesting.
When I update ‘Weight’ in the Basic Settings, reload, it overrides the Wellness ‘Weight’ for that day.

It doesn’t work for me in the opposite direction. Wellness ‘Weight’ doesn’t override Basic Setting ‘Weight’.

I’m using a Chrome browser in case that could be it?

Did you reload the settings page, so that you don’t see any cached values?

Yes. Just tried that. I also deleted browsing data and tried again. Same issue. Wellness doesn’t override Basic Setting Weight.

I did notice that when reloading the Basic Setting page. Weight reverted to a historical value.

Could it possibly be something to do with time servers? I’m in Australia (and I’ve set my time zone accordingly).

Maybe, you could try to set/change yesterday’s value, this one also updated the value on the settings page (I removed today’s value before that). So the settings page will always use the latest value, so maybe even check that you don’t have any values for later days

That was it!

When I was playing around it I entered a value for tomorrow in Wellness. That overrode anything I entered for today.

My ‘non issue’ is resolved. Thank you for your time and experience.

Mine works both ways with a normal refresh (F5) for today’s values.
If in doubt, use the hard refresh option too.

  • Windows/Linux: Press Ctrl+Shift+R or Ctrl+F5
  • Mac: Press Cmd+Shift+R

The easiest way of thinking about it is

  • The most recent entry will be used, no matter if it was entered on the settings or wellness page
  • If no weight is entered for a day with an activity, the most recent weight will be used for that activity

PS: the most recent entry can also come from one or multiple synced sources! That often creates confusion when it comes to historical weight values.

thanks again

Sure does!

Thank you for your reply.
