I just did a ramp test this morning, thus I know more or less exactly what my FTP is. And it doesn’t match with the Estimated FTP on intervals.icu.
It seems like intervals.icu is using the estimated FTP as the reference, regardless of the FTP I put in the settings. How can I change that so that intervals.icu stop using my estimated FTP to compute load etc…
It will always use your manually entered FTP to compute load and so on. Intervals.icu stores FTP on each activity and uses the value from /settings when a new activity is synced. So you might need to edit your most recent activities as well.
Related (and apologies if covered elsewhere) — the FTP and FTP/KG graphs show both actual and eFTP lines, which is great, but the numeric readouts at the far right and at the top for the selected date use eFTP (this is on intervals.icu/fitness). Is there a way to configure so that the numeric readouts use actual FTP?
UPDATE: just saw this is on the to-do list (Apr 16 post in TR forum)! Appreciate that
Should you eFTP value be so flat? Seems to me this should vary slightly over time. On the graph shown above, and on mine as well, the purple line is pretty much unchanging over months. How can this be correct?
I do a ramp test about once a month and see that my numbers do indeed increase. But if I change the FTP value here then that changes my load. What is the best way to handle this? Would be nice if the eFTP value was more believable (i.e. changed with time).
eFTP only goes up when you do a max effort that gives you a higher eFTP. I haven’t attempted to estimate FTP from sub-max efforts (e.g. by looking for inflection in power/HR data) yet. It will drop slowly if your reduce training.
If you do a ramp (or other) test and get a new FTP you should just use it. Your load for the same power will drop but that make sense because that effort should now be easier for you.
