Hey @david,
I’m seeing this weirdness with the menus in the UI on Microsoft Edge Version 111.0.1661.44 (latest build, I think? I keep it on auto-update). Not sure if this has been reported before.

Hey @david,

Tx. Other browsers do a better job of hiding the scrollbar and only displaying it when in use. It is now hidden all of the time. Hopefully that doesn’t cause issues for mouse users.
Since when is Edge considered a browser?
Haha. Actually since Edge basically is Chrome. That’s since when. I’m T actually has some nice features.
It’s called edge. But it’s still backwards compatible to all the fuckups that were implemented before
It’s very intrusive and does a million things in the background without you knowing about it. I deactivate as much as I can.
I actually need to disable certain flags to avoid USB communication problems with devices in my professional work environment…
Yup, they are all pretty intrusive, not just Edge. Anyone who thinks that large tech companies are providing us all with free browsers out of the goodness of their heart should think again. If a product is free, then YOU are the product (generally speaking, current company excepted).
Ever heard of Brave?
Yup! They do look promising. I have been using Brave since it first came out. It was a work in progress back then. It’s my default browser on my mobile device. My work laptop though has Edge on it, and its managed by the company I work for.
What search engine do ye use with Brave?
And those of you using Brave, do you use an Android or Apple mobile device?
And do you use Windows OS?
And what about MS Office?
I use DuckDuckGo and an iPhone. Still leaking data in a variety of ways, but I guess that’s what we get for wanting all the tech.
And it’s windows 10 and all things Microsoft at work. A veritable mine of data for them … I have at some stages thought about possible alternatives, but frankly they’d all just make my life more difficult and still not be perfect unless I moved off the grid to the woods with a tin foil hat.
This is it really isn’t it? I don’t see any real point in switching to Brave or DuckDuckGo etc because big tech have me every which way anyway. Android phone. Windows PC…MS Office…
The difference is: with devices and software (computer/smartphone, office, …) you’ll probably leak data to the company that made it
With a browser you potentially leak data to whatever website you’re surfing on (and a shitload of third party sites, that somehow display ads or other content on said sites)
That’s fair enough and I hadn’t looked at it from that point of view. Food for thought
Brave installed on 2 x laptops and my phone
Zero hassle and syncs perfectly.
DuckDuckGo as search engine
Brave on my personal Linux Mint desktop
Brave on my work Windows 10 laptop
Brave on my Android Phone
Absolutely enjoying the huge reduction of adds, the speed of browsing and quite some better privacy.
Already noticed the reduction of ads. For that alone it is worth the switch
You’d switch a browser for less ads? There are ad blockers for just about every browser on every platform out there? Yes, even for iOS.
