Tymewear Training Membership

I’m considering a purchase of the Tymewear strap. I wondered if anyone here has experience of their $150/year training membership program and can provide any information on it. Is it worth it and has it helped your training?

Thanks,

Colin

I’ve got it and I’m really glad a got it free. Hopefully it will improve as time goes by.

I’ve used the VitalPro for three weeks. Fortunately the membership was included when I purchased as the additional membership features have not been useful for me and currently aren’t worth $150/year imho.

There is much room for improvement. The overall experience has been “beta testing” level, definitely “early adopter” growing pains.

When you say beta testing level, are you referring to the strap or just the training package?

Currently both :-o
I have not used the software in the sense of training guide at all although I do have the free version. Regarding ramp tests, I had used it, it worked, but nowadays use my normal setup (i.icu, icTrainer, Garmin) to do the ramp test and tell support that this was a test😉 Regarding basics and firmware updates the software just works.

The strap, generally, works fine, but even there some precautions and adjustments are necessary, i.e., how to wear it – wearing under base layer (under bib straps), which is a must in cold-weather rides for me, is not so straightforward. Following the last firmware upgrade (causality or only correlation unknown) the strap stopped working 30–45 min into the workout. Got an extra firmware update from support right the next day, but that still had the same problem yesterday. Assume I’ll get a new update today and hope it will fix the issue😉

as @yokuha said: both.

the workout library is limited and nothing really new, mostly standard intervals and progressions. for example: cycling zone 4 there are only 7 workouts, the “hardest” being 4x 10min work / 2min rest. there are no workouts with 15min or 20min blocks which are pretty standard.

the suggested workouts have mostly followed what i would have picked for myself anyway: lots of zone 2. i did follow a suggested zone 5 workout and wasn’t impressed. the first block didn’t even get my VE near the target zone so they’re definitely not “customized” for the user (if they’re using AI, it should know that 15/45s aren’t going to be effective for me, and/or the targeted power is too low).

i’ve also had the breathing sensor stop sending data during a handful of rides and have contacted support but have not received a response. before the latest firmware, i had zero issues with the strap. my work-around has been to remove/replace the battery before the session, which then resets the “battery usage” back to 100%, which is less than idea.

eso no es bueno:

they’ve just re-vamped the web app and it’s a little better but i’ll still stick with intervals.icu for analysis

Thanks everyone for your replies - maybe I’ll stay on the fence for a bit longer

How do you wear it under a base layer for cold rides? Do you shorten one side and lengthen the other so the ventilation sensor is offset from the bib straps (while keeping HR monitor centered)?

Yes, had a longer discussion with tymewear support in fall… the strap would fit me exactly without the extension on max. extend, but in the end I put in the extension on one side and go for “shortest” positions on all clips then, i.e., max. Short out center back. That way the pod itself never interferes with my bib straps, although the counter/mount point still is under the bib strap. This gives me stable values across all baselayer, bib, jersey, … combinations.
