Hi all
I have used all the training apps out there (fascat, TR, Sufferfest). I feel this year when my season is over I want to do zrl and perhaps TTT and build plan around that with other rides and also some strength. Any advice on how and what to build in intervals would be great. Have to say it amazes me how good the analytics are on this site, if I was comfortable planning I’d drop all the others without a doubt.
This all needs to be considered in terms of periodisation - how long do you want to do this for? to what end? when are you going to take some time off between seasons? when are your key events/ goals? what type of training do they need?
That being said, on the face of the details you have provided…If you are doing ZRL and Zwift TTT every week for a period of time, then I would suggest these are your hard workouts for the week and you fill the majority of your time in the week with as much easy/ low intensity/ z2 riding as you can, including a longer ride at the weekend… the ZRL ride will be a good bout of vo2 intensity with repeatability and the TTT will be threshold work. If you are feeling good you could include some SST in your longer endurance ride at the weekend.
Ref strength, depending on how accustomed you are to this work, then it might leave you very sore, so I would be doing it after the days you have hard workouts and making the following days super easy or off…
For example:
M - off
T - ZRL + strength
W - very easy/ off
T - TTT + strength
F - easy
S - long endurance ride
S - z2 easy

I would add another day in between the ZRL and TTT, as 48 hours might not be enough recovery time. But that depends on a few factors, eg. recovery ability, race schedule, general fatigue/freshness, etc.

As in Wednesday rest day.
It depends how much intensity (IF and time in zone) is done on the first race day before deciding if the 48 hours is enough or not.
And then also look at 2:1 vs 3:1 weekly work and recovery cycles.

I agree, but to my knowledge ZRL and Zwift TTT are run on a Tues and Thursday respectively…again all depends how well trained you are. I am awful on a hard session having a day off before so need to ride between hard workouts.

If I had to choose one I’d do zrl/Tuesday racing and a more specific session on Thursdays
Thanks.
I’ve never done any racing on Zwift, so I wouldn’t know.
As @Olly_Thomas has said, it all depends what your goals are. You need to align your training to your goals. Train like you want to race, and then race like you’ve trained (that works for both good and bad).
