Tool to help plan today's workout

I was wondering if you could add a simple tool to show how a specific TSS score will affect my fitness, form, and fatigue for today or tomorrow, assuming such a tool doesn’t already exist. I’ve tried doing this by adding a planned workout, but that requires more than the target TSS, and since I don’t currently use planned workouts, it’s a bit of a barrier.

Basically, I’m thinking of sliders that show how the numbers change based on the target TSS and what zone that will put me in for my form (transition, fresh, …). The target for tomorrow assumes that I do nothing further today.

A stretch goal would be to suggest intensities and durations to achieve that TSS. Maybe more sliders.

You could do that with a planned workout. You can just capture the load, you don’t have to actually create steps and so on. If you also capture duration it will work out the intensity.

I get that. It’s just awkward, since you have to set it and then go back and forth with the fitness page to see it’s effect.

I know you have a long to do list, but I think this would be useful for those of us, including new users, that haven’t developed an intuitive sense of how a particular effort will affect our 42- or 7-day exponential moving average or how a particular effort will be reflected as TSS. The specific reason I want it is that, even after a year, I find it incredibly difficult to plan my workouts to keep my Form % in the optimal training zone.

A really simple version of this would be a horizontal colour-coded form line, perhaps on the athlete page, that shows the TSS needed at each threshold (e.g., grey zone <-> optimal training) if the workout is done today or tomorrow. For thresholds where the TSS would be negative, you can put the number of rest days until that threshold is reached.

If I end up implementing this myself as an Excel spreadsheet or a Jupyter Notebook, I’ll share it with you.
