Take over intervals from planned workout

Hi,

at the moment i’m driving frequently planned workouts. Is it possible, to take over the intervalls from the planned workout into the aktivity?

Best regards
Daniel

Next Wintertraining has started.

This would be really great : can i Take over the Intervalls from the planned Workout?

can you explain a little bit more on what you would like to do?

Sorry for the late reply!

I’m planning my workouts in intervals like so:

4x
- 2m 108%
- 2m 50%

Than i import this workout into zwift. It would bei nice to see these intervals in the completeted workout, too.

  1. 2m x Watt-FTP; y HF; z Cadence; …
  2. 2m x Watt-FTP; y HF; z Cadence; …
  3. 2m x Watt-FTP; y HF; z Cadence; …
  4. 2m x Watt-FTP; y HF; z Cadence; …

Do you know what i mean?

You see the intervals in the graph and at the top right beside the name of the activity. I would not know where else to put it in activity?

The place of the intervalls in the acitivity is completly ok!
But the intervalls are not automatically recogniced, they are “missing”.

Example:
These are the intervalls of the planned workout:

Theses are the examples automatically reconiced:

Looks like you are using rounds as intervals.
Go to settings > in the box power settings > deactivate „use rounds as intervals“
Go to activity again and analyse the activity again (action > analyse). It should auto detect your intervals correctly.

That might be an idea. As Coach i want to see exactly the intervalls of the planned workout. Even when the acitity is quite different

+1 need this feature. During outdoor cycling I could not reproduce required power curve perfectly (tried my best) but I still want to record my activity as planned workout.
I deleted all auto-created intervals and tried to add them manually according the planned activity, it takes too much time (12x HITs). Whenever I click on the canvas, I risk to mess it up - a previous interval got deleted, when I tried to re-add it, most of the intervals got deleted somehow.
Also would be good to have an option in the “MARK DONE” dialog to mark workout as done without adding a new activity (because my imperfect activity already has been recorded).

I don’t know what you are asking for. You see the planned workout power (light blue) and the power done (violet). You see the timing difference, e.g. when you start interval some time later. Intervals recognise the interval automatically correct.

for each interval, are you manually pressing the LAP button to mark the interval?
if you are, then you can use Intervals.icu to “use laps” and the traces will be correct as per your LAPS

Drag one on to the other to pair manually.
If the activity is too different from the workout, Intervals will not pair automatically, but you can always pair manually by dragging.
If your workout and activity have an overall shift in time that is more or less constant, use the slider at the bottom of the Options dialog to sync them best as possible.

For recurring intervals that are not correct, first create one interval that is the full length of all the intervals and use the Split function to cut in equal pieces.

You see, there are lots of tools already implemented. It’s up to you to use them in the most adequate way.

That worked, thanks!
Just to note how the power timeline of the activity looks like:

will try to use it next time, thanks for the tip

Once it’s paired, you can show the paired workout structure. See same dialog in the first screenshot: ‘Show paired workout’
What I would do with the above is add an interval that stretches the whole part in between the highlights, and then split that in 12 equal parts. Then you can split each of those in the work and rest part.

You are right, perhaps this helps.

But my idea is a completly different feature:

  • i do not want to “pair” the aktivity with the workout
  • i simply want to take over the interval start/stop time from the workout!

I do not want to “pair manually by dragging” or by editing directity the times:

Theses data should be simple the same as in the workout defined:

Im not sure, if you get my idea?!

If you execute the workout during your activity, your device should automatically log the ‘laps’ from the workout.
On the Intervals settings page, check the Use Laps checkbox, and the activity will have the exact same intervals. When you use this outdoors, it is important to disable all Auto-pause, Auto-lap functions because that will mess it up.
Basically the checkbox disables automatic interval detection in Intervals and simply uses the laps created by the workout.
I guess that s want you want?
You can test it on a former activity by using Re-analyse from the Actions menu (bottom of the activity page).

from practical experience:
or you prefer that intervals.ucu automatically finds intervals on the effort you actually did, or you want to see interval info based on the efforts that the workout requested: In that case you need to to as @MedTechCD describes above. However, that does require that the device/app you use to record the workout contains those steps;

if i do dual record for example (device 1 manages the trainer and runs the workout, device 2 is a recording of the activity, and that is was you upload), then the recording does not contain those laps. You would need to actively press lap. I use dual recording myself, and I pair the workload file with the activity. Also when I run a workout with the XERT ECB app, and upload that recording, the recording does not contain the workout, so i can not have the intervals pulled out of the recording (which otherwise is an incredibly powerfull intervals feature!)

a final thought: myself i let intervals.icu do interval detection, as I’m more interrested to see what efforts I actually i did as opposed to what intervals i should have done. but that’s a maybe a tomato (US) vs tomato (UK) thing

Please describe the ‘exact’ way you’re doing this and what you want as a result Which device is running the workout, which one is recording, indoor/outdoor etc…
The possibilities are numerous and you can’t expect us to know what you have in mind.
Most standard workflows have already good solutions implemented.

For me… I prefer to use my manually pressed LAPs when outside cos it shows exactly when I want to see the Laps.
