Sync Experts - Google Fit / Strava / TrainerRoad Query

So this isn’t specifically related to Intervals.icu (though it might help), but I know many people here are flat out expert at the data sync side of things, so one of you may have an idea.

I do most of my training on TrainerRoad these days, which I have set to sync to Strava, which then syncs here. Problem is, anything I sync from TrainerRoad to Strava doesn’t make it down to my Google Fit account, whereas anything I do directly in Strava does.

It’s a pretty minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, but I’d really like to get my activities over to Google Fit as it’s a fairly good place to look for an overview of what I’ve been doing. Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe somewhere else I can send my data that would then send it on to Google Fit?

Cheers!

Oh, topical. Seems it might be related to this in some way.

Thanks for the link /update… my friend just had the same issue and your link helped

I wonder when Strava will make it such that they too won’t send data to intervals as well

A friend of mine using iOS said that he’s solved the problem with an app called “RunGap”.

Yes… RunGap… i also told my friend.

Seems like this has blown up…

It remains to be seen what is the impact towards me :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if Garmin → Strava → intervals.icu still works…

That does. Garmin have huge market share so Strava won’t stop that. But I hope they keep the API going so that last leg continues.

Apple isn’t a slouch either and they cut it off. Perhaps a different target market, but for the last bit (to intervals) that’s the one which is worrisome.

Anyone know if something like FitnessSyncer might help me out here? It’s a bit unwieldy so I’m hesitant to just start smashing through it and potentially screw something up.

just from looking at their website,
it doesn’t list Zwift nor Rouvy nor TrainerRoad

No, but Strava has my TrainerRoad data, which I’m assuming this could read.

I used it previously to get Google Fit data (weight) to Intervals.icu, so I can do some things, but no idea how well it works with Strava.

I’m a big fan of RunGap. Makes life much easier by acting as a hub.

Yeah, this no third-party forward by Strava is a bugger!
For me, HealthFit is the workaround, at least I can export fit files from TrainerRoad or Zwift websites directly to HealthFit, which then puts it into Apple Health.

@slizeray , it would be really cool if HealthFit could directly read Dropbox files, as automatically created/stored, for instance, by Wahoo, TrainerRoad and others.

Sorry for the sidenote here in the i.icu forum;-)
But as @david does this already maybe he could even be of help:-o)

I think this opens a big opportunity to HealthFit, I’m convinced it’s time to get around Strava and their stupid quirks.

For Apple Health, from what I read, it’s only available on the iPhone (not iPad or Mac(?)). Hence, for instance - is it possible for a workout which is executed on the ipad be synced to Apple Health?

The remaining problems are, however, still

  • crippled data by Strava (L/R an other advanced data fully missing, HR and GPS not passed or not working in Health, …)
  • the announcement that they will bring out some other kind of duplicate-avoidance, could have implications again;-)
