Hi!!! I am using Intervals for my Suunto guides because for me it is the best way to follow a training session. Just a small suggestion: on the current training screen it is possible to see the range in which you have to train (in my case by power), your target power and your current power, but you cannot see your lap power (interval). Would it be possible to change it instead of seeing, for example, the distance? Thanks.
Agree with @Imposible, we need Int avg power in the Suunto guide.
Additionally to what he suggested, currently the bottom value displays HR bpm, it’d better to display the metric used to determine the interval duration, meters if step is based on distance or time remaining (min secs) when based on time.
For the Int power avg, the position in yellow is a good place, and in blue I’ve marked what I described above.
Basically we can have 3 fields displaying power, which are the target, the interval avg and the current power. + value
I’d get rid of displaying HR completely when it’s a power-based run, at least for the Suunto platform.
BTW David, you should know that ICU is the only platform displaying those handy/helpful interval and rest counters on structured workouts for Suunto watches , great job ![]()
Thanks
Well, I would prefer to see HR instead of distance. For me distance is irrelevant, only matters if the duration of the interval is in meters and you would have that in the bottom field.
Agreed, if step is not distance based, we don’t need distance, but we do when that’s the case.
Same applies for field with time.
Hope the suggestions are clear for @david, value at the bottom can be used to display the remaining time or distance on the step.
And @Imposible’s suggestion is great, the Int avg power is a great addition to power-based workouts, this would be the key field to make sure we hit the target power in the step, as we all know power is about about the averages, real time power fluctuates quite a bit, this is something ICU lacks at the moment, it would be the final blow to the Trainingpeaks workout ![]()
Guess David is pretty swamped with request all over, just digging this up for ACK?
#SomeIntervalsLoveForSuunto
Hi Herlas, I’m new to Suunto (previously Garmin) and also new to intervals.icu. I’ve created a 4-week workout block in https://subthreshold.net/, synced with intervals.icu and the guides show up for the following week in my app/watch.
However, when I select the guide, the additional screen I get on my run is very basic. It has the time decreasing, my current pace, and distance. If it is a pace based interval, I would like to have the pace zone indicator around the outside of the display (or HR zone if that is how the interval is configured). You appear to have something similar on your screen shot.
Do you know what I need to do to get this on my Race 2?
Hey Mark, I guess you’d need to verify how the workout looks like when imported from your source to intervals ICU, there’s really nothing to do other than making sure you have zones defined in ICU for whatever metric your workout is defined for. Can you share screenshot of your workout definition?
Thanks for responding Herlas! I was able to work out how to get the zone indicator displaying for HR by using “Z1”, “Z2” etc., but hadn’t even thought about needing pace zones configured, d’oh!
I had hoped that the pace based workout as below would be able to give me the “green” bar when I was within the designated pace range for each step e.g. during warmup, be green if running 7:26-8:56/km pace.
WORKOUT STRUCTURE:
- Warmup (7:26-8:56) 10m 7:26-8:56/km (1.2km) pace intensity=warmup
5x
-
5m 5:27-5:36/km (0.9km) pace intensity=active
-
Rest 1m intensity=rest
-
Cooldown 5m 7:26-8:56/km (0.61km) pace intensity=cooldown
I use subthreshold.net/ to generate NSM compliant sessions, so have created the following pace zones in intervals.icu:
| Z1 | Walk | 0 - 60% | 8:57/km + |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z2 | Easy | 61 - 72.2% | 7:26 - 8:56/km |
| Z3 | Sub-Int | 73.2 - 92.2% | 5:49 - 7:25/km |
| Z4 | 10m Int | 93.2 - 95.5% | 5:37 - 5:48/km |
| Z5 | 5m Int | 96.5 - 98.5% | 5:27 - 5:36/km |
| Z6 | 3m Int | 99.5 - 101.3% | 5:18 - 5:26/km |
| Z7 | Race | 102.3%+ | < 5:17/km |
and this seems to work as expected in both my intervals.icu calendar, and on the watch during a run. I checked the library on subthreshold.net/ and all interval paces seem to fall in to 15K, HM, and 30K paces so hopefully I don’t need any more zones. Also hoping that, as I improve, I just need to update my threshold pace and all the zones will realign with the proposed pace zones on subthreshold.net/
Thanks again for the response.
