I would like to be able to split a FIT file (or any activity file) into two separate activity files. I think it should be one of the options in the “Actions” menu under an activity.
I know there’s an ability to crop, but that doesn’t work for my use case since I want to keep the data from both parts of the activity, not throw a chunk of it away.
It would be helpful when I perform two outdoor workouts in a row. Or if I stop at a cafe for 30 minutes and just keep my computer running. Obviously, I could (if I remember) end the recording and start another one. But if I forget, intervals.icu doesn’t let me (AFAIK) split the file and analyze them separately. Since this is a data analysis platform, I hope for it to have this capability.
Thanks
Save original FIT, crop existing activity, import original FIT and crop that one to second part.
Not straightforward but it works.
That’s one solution and I appreciate the recommendation. But I’m almost always visiting intervals.icu from my phone, where that’s either not possible or a heck of a lot of work. Hence the feature request.
second this request, would be great if this could be done.

See if this site help what you looking for

That actually offers less features. There’s no ability to crop nor split files on that website.
Another use case for this feature: when doing two races back to back (category race then masters race), there’s often barely time to swap water bottles then get back to the starting line before the next race start. I don’t want to have to worry about stopping my previous recording then starting another during that brief time. So easier ability to split files would be appreciated.
Section remover does exactly the same as what crop does.
If you ave ‘simple’ FIT files, use
The trim option allows you to save first one, then the other part by entering start and /or end time. If you have not donated, you can only export TCX files, meaning that you loose dev fields if present.
Small on-time fee enables FIT export.
Or, just found this, but have never used it before
It’s good to know the alternatives, but still it’s all extra steps.
Right now, fit-files come in Intervals directly, you then have to export them, import them in another program, split them, save them, import them again in Intervals and finaly remove the original, instead of just “split-file”.
I know it’s not a big deal to do it externaly and certainly I don’t see it as a priority, but it would be very nice if it could be done inside of Intervals.
Agreed. And some FIT manipulations will come in Intervals, it’s on the todo list.
Exactly what and when is yet unknown.
