I’m probably the only user in the world who cares about this but the way coasting is defined as time spent moving at 1 km/h or more while producing 10w or less of power doesn’t work if you are riding a fixed gear bike. I ride at least 40% of my annual miles on fixed gear bikes, and when going downhill I can be moving at 30+ mph and pedaling 150 rpm or more. My power output can be 0 or very close to 0 at these times. By definition a fixed gear bike isn’t capable of coasting, but my rides typically show up with 10% or more of coasting time. I’m just wondering if there are any other calculations that are driven by this coasting time percentage or it is something I can just ignore?

It isn’t used for anything other than display so you can ignore it.

Thanks. I figured that was probably the case but just wanted to be sure.
Hi David, is there a possibility to get the “coaching %” displayed in a fitness custom chart? I can only see the “coaching time” and use eg weekly total etc. But I would love to use the % as a performance indicator to focus on to be able to track less and less coaching during a period of changing my riding performance, irrelevant to the time on the bike but as a relative parameter.
Thanks for considering, cheers Gijs
Love your agility and swiftness! Thanks a million David, it sits prominently in my custom charts now. Cheers Gijs
