[SOLVED] HRRc Min HR broken? - Note: Settings are PER Sport

Hello,

The website defaults my “HRRc Min HR” to 159. I have modified this in Settings to a lower threshold, 150, but the website doesn’t seem to pick up on this value. It continues to only calculate my HRRc on activities that hit the prior 159 default threshold.

Am I missing something? Thanks.

If you want to recalculate that for older activities, you need to bulk-re-analyze them. If you just change the setting, it will only be applied for future activities.
Bulk editing can be done on the Activity List view. Filter for date-range and/or activity type, then click Edit - Analyze.

Unfortunately, re-analyzing does not change anything on my end, nor does the new min HRRc value successfully apply to new activities.

Show us a screenshot where you think it is wrong and another one from your settings of the activity type please.
There must be an explanation why it isn’t doing what it should do.

EDIT: you may need the Edit - Update Zones option iso Analyze for this setting to take effect. Try that first with one activity.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have tried the Edit > Update Zones action but this also did not work.

Here you can see my Min HRR setting:

Here is an example of an activity where HRRc does not calculate, despite reaching a HR above this threshold (158 > 150):

This activity was uploaded after I had changed my Min HRR to 150 so, as I understand it, correct behavior would be for it to calculate HRRc automatically. I also tried your suggestion of Action > Re-analyze but this also fails to calculate HRRc.

The HRRc only works when you spend 1-min or longer above the set value (150bpm), edit: and allow the recovery to be at least one minute after the time above that threshold value (see @MedTechCD comment below).

Your average for the duration (1 hour, 4 minutes) is 130bpm. Zoom in on the duration of the intervals. Is it above 150bpm for longer than 1 minute?

Yes, I also think one of the duration targets was not met. Duration above the set value and/or duration of the drop.
The last one typically happens when you get over the finish line and stop your device recording immediately.

After receiving your messages, I have gone ahead and logged an activity designed explicitly to test your proposed model of how this feature should work. I raised my HR to 155 (above the min 150 HRRc I have input to Settings) and then maintained this steady state for 5 minutes (more than the 1m threshold.) I then tested for 3 minutes, repeating this for a total of three rounds.

As you can see, despite meeting these criteria, no HRRc is calculated:

From this view, you can confirm I maintained a HR over the 150 threshold for more than 16m:

I then logged a second activity to test my assumption that the website is ignoring my manually set min HRRc value and continuing to use the default 159 HRRc. Here I raise HR to 159+ and hold it there for 98s. As you can see, for this round HRRc does compute:

Then @david should have a look because it used to behave correctly. Thanks for the test results!

The settings for HRRc are per sport. So you need to edit it for “Other” in /settings (the sport that will be used for "Workout). “HRRc Min HR” is currently 159 for “Other” and 150 for “Ride”.

Ah, I see now, I have updated the “Other” tab min HRRc and Re-analyzed the workout and now it displays the expected behavior. Thanks!

Mentioned that but the ´workout´ name never caught my attention…
Things to remember for all users:

  • give us as much background info as possible. Screenshots are most of the time very valuable.

Things to remember for advanced users:

  • never consider the obvious for us as obvious for everyone.

Intervals is an advanced platform and the learning curve for newer users is becoming pretty steep.
