Short update:
Tried a Sanitas SBF70 but the app doesn’t sync to Health Connect and the scale never showed up on Bluetooth after setup so OpenScale also wasn’t an option.
Using a Withings body smart now. Setup was a breeze, no issue tracking multiple users. Sync to Health Connect works great. I’m testing Health Sync now to push measurements from Health Connect to intervals.
Agree, it’s the price we have to pay for the easy integrations from Garmin with every app. All the other brands we always need a workaround or 3rd parties like fitnesssyncer
I don’t see anything wrong w/ a 3rd party app. myself im using Apple Health as one of the 3rd party app.
I have had good luck with Withings scales. They automatically recognize different users, sync in the background over Wi-Fi, and you don’t need to open an app before stepping on the scale. Once they’re connected, the whole process is pretty seamless. If your main goal is reliable weight tracking in Intervals, prioritize accurate weight measurements over body composition. The body fat and muscle estimates on most consumer smart scales can vary quite a bit, but the weight data is generally consistent enough for tracking long-term trends.
Based on the workflow you described, a Wi-Fi scale that stores measurements and syncs automatically later is probably the best fit. Having to open an app every time quickly becomes annoying, especially if the goal is to build a consistent daily habit.
Withings is still one of the stronger options for delayed syncing and multi-user recognition, although the software chain can get a bit messy depending on where you want the data to end up. If body composition isn’t a priority, focusing on reliable weight tracking and automatic syncing will likely give you a better long-term experience.
